How does the 350Z stack up to an LS1?

No, this is wrong as I understand not all LS1s have 350 hp. I know the 50th anniversary vette has 350. I understand the SS, Z28 and I believe the regular C5 vettes have 320.
What is your problem? We are not in denial. We never said a 350Z can never lose. In fact, some of you LS1ers seem to think a LS1 will never lose. And, I am looking at where you are. You run around in a heavily modified cars with 500+ hp and compare vs stock Zs.
I find you LS1 guys can be characterized in one of two ways: 1) reasonable auto fans who like our cars and come over to check the forum. Some of you provide us with good information and are generally cool and don't troll or assert that their LS1 is invincible, or 2) trolls that do nothing but argue that their LS1 is the **** and no Z will ever hang with a LS1 regardless of the facts.
If you're a number 2, do us a favor and go pester some WRX, S2000 or EVO forum because you're not welcome here.

I think the Z looks and performs great.
I never once said the LS1 cannot lose,
I am simply providing you with good knowledgeable information about LS1's....
I have not been here to long and have seen and tried to correct many rumors about LS1's and such.
One for instance the other day when a 350Z owner said LS1 Z28's were speed limited to 128mph...
I did not bash him I simply informed him that this was incorrect..
HP ratings mean nothing...
They all dyno about the same.. C5 a little more..maybe 10RWHP more or so...
But since you like to talk about ratings..
all C5's, with the exception of the Z06 have 350HP...
Some SS's and WS6's with SLP options are rated at 345..
Some of you probably have beaten LS1's...
But unless your spraying or heavily modified..
It was driver error...
How else would you explain a 240RWHP(average) 350Z pulling on a 300+RWHP(average) LS1?
Especially from a roll
It's not going to happen unless the LS1 is beat to death or the driver just plain sucks...
Those of you that think I am just bashing 350Z's are very wrong.
Like I said I think they are great cars and I have all the respect for them.
No I am not telling you to go buy something else because it's faster..
Hell it's your life it's your car...drive what you want.
I am aware that speed is not the only thing to look at when buying a car, but when you try to say you beat a car that is far superior in the speed category, then I will open my mouth and speak my opinion...
You don't have to like it, you don't have to listen, but that won't stop me from saying it.
Cheers,
Anthony

I find you 350Z guys the same way:
1- Guys who appreciate cars in general and know what they are talking about
2- Guys whose 350Z is the first fast car they have ever had, think that it's something it's not, and are generally dumba$$'s
then again every car forum is like that, some are just worse than others and this one is getting a bad name.

This isn't the first time GM underrated a "lesser" car for the benefit of the Corvette owner's ego. The Buick Grand National had an advertised horsepower less than that the same model year's Corvette, but if you think a mid-eighties C4 is going to beat a GN or GNX in a drag race you're nuts.

The rating for the C5 has been 345 since its 1997 introduction. In 2001 the rating was bumped up to 350 due to the LS6 intake.
The 01+ F-bodies also have the LS6 intake and have better flowing cast iron exhaust manifolds and like the 01+ C5s should be putting 310-330 RWHP down....6 speed cars will dyno higher than A4 cars as well.
Basically the "rating" is a joke.

There was also a slight difference in cam profile in the earlier model years, but not enough to make a significant difference. If you talk to anyone at Ste. Catherines engine assembly they'll tell you that Corvette-bound LS1 block castings also get some extra machine work for oiling and cooling, but I'm not sure how much faith I put in that - they are the place that ended up building LS1's with LS6 block castings, some of which ended up in Camaros and Firebirds.
Back to the orginal point, I think the 350Z stacks up pretty well against the LS1. It should get interesting as the 350Z aftermarket catches on.

ok guys...i dynod 290RWHP BONE STOCK....down to the paper filter in my automatic...so go ahead and take 18% of my drivetrain loss due to my automatic...
01 - 02 LS1's dyno around 310RWHP stock at the minimum....now take 15% drivetrain loss if its a 6speed....how much HP do you have??
answer 1) 290 / .82 = 353 HP
answer 2) 310 / .85 = 364 HP
do all the math you want...you will clearly see above the rated HP....

Lined up against a C5 twice at the track. He couldn't drive if his life depended on it. 2.6 and 2.7x 60ft times. Pulled like a mother after he gripped. My 60fts weren't that great either. If i had a decent 60ft (2.1x) i'd have beat that poor c5. he ran a 14.3, and a 13.9 respectively on our two runs... Now consider that your average 350z runs in the low 14s, and the better drivers hit in the high 13's... not a fair race by any stretch of the imagination. That guy had horrendous 60ft times and yet he still pulled off times par to the Z.
I'm sure if both the C5 and I nailed our launches he'd have murdered me.
Anyone who thinks their 350z can beat an LS1 needs to have their head examined.

Kudos to you my friend for stating the facts and not BS.....
Of course some moron is going to come in here and say "it's only because it was a vette"
people who dont think that they LS1 is underrated, please read the following article from a magazine back in 1998.

So, now that we know it is possible for a Z to beat an F-body and therefore a Vette (since we've now been schooled on how the two actually make the same power) I don't want to hear any more crap about how a Z can't beat an LS1 vehicle. I think most of us already know that it is very unlikely, but it is possible.
And I'll just go ahead and ignore the irony of me arguing on a thread that I am asking people to stop arguing on. The rest of you can ignore the irony too, dammit.

Well, I won't say anything about him losing because the other car was a vette, but I will say that the times the vette put down are within the capability of a stock Z. Obviously if you are talking averages, there is no way a Z will beat an LS1. However, when people post kills, they are not posting averages. They are posting that 1/100 chance where everything works in the Z's favor (including driver skill - a huge requirement in this particular comparison) and the Z wins.

But when someone claims to have run an auto LS1 from 70-130 and pull on him...
Thats when I call BS..
If it was a 6-spd I would find it more believeable(as bad as that sounds) because then it could be the simple fact that the LS1 driver sucked ***....
But when your talking an auto where all you have to do is mash the damn gas pedal to the ground and you have a 70RWHP advantage, yet the other car pulls.....that I find very fishy..
I like 350Z's and think they are great looking and quick cars,
but some people just need to pull their head out of their ***
