Man, that does sound amazing,
. Makes me want to sell my DD and my wife and my house to buy some more parts for my car. My own NA build is getting along pretty nicely (just installed the 3.9 gears and am still in the break in period). I still need to throw in the UTEC and raise the rev limiter and do some tuning. I'm just hoping for high 2XX some horsepower but I'm telling you from experience that this car with some bolt ons and still NA can be a pretty quick car. I can't wait to get it out on the AutoX and Roadcourse tracks next year. Oh, I have video in my signature of my car also, but all of them are before the gears, the lightweight pulleys, and new tranny fluid. Keep posting up about your Z Adam because it's inspiring me to keep working on mine,

Oh yeah, I really need to get some new video because after watching my old video's again compared to how the car feels and sounds now, it is totally different.
. It's too bad it's winter and I live in IN. I won't really be able to drive the damn thing for about 5 months...

I may have missed the posts that explained this but...
Do you think there would be any worth while gains to be had by switching to 272 cams and/or spinning it to 9,000rpm with the right supporting mods? Or is that extra 1,000rpm just not going to yield worthwhile gains

I don't see 9k being worthwhile on my current setup except for some sort of bragging rights. The motor is balanced even higher, but I just don't see the point with my setup.
272's - who knows, the advertised lift duration #'s don't really tell you much by themselves, so I couldn't say if it would be worth it or not. It would all depend on the ramp angles as well. But it also would require me to remove my motor and my heads...alot of work that I just don't feel like doing right now.

So even if it were built for the task, spinning to 9,000rpm isn't going to yield any major gains huh? It would be better to just keep the torque in the lower rpm and sacrifice a few extra hp up high?
Bragging rights sure are cool though!

Oh wow, fantastic build thread dude, definately a motivator for anyone going any (including me).
I'm not too familiar with the vq's yet, I've got a G35 which i'll be keeping n/a but I'm throwing in a vq35de into my s14 as well, and am hoping to bust the 300whp barrier, glad to see someone else did haha. . .
When does the Cosworth plenum come out again? I've seen a few sites say this past November but I can't seem to find anyone with them. . .
Glad to see someone pioneering into an n/a world. . .keep it up! You'll be getting some pm's from me pretty soon

You're guess is as good as mine on the manifold lololol. All we can hope for is "soon".
Adam I talked to the guys from Cosworth this weekend at PRI and they said that they have been shipping the manifolds out. If you don't get yours soon give me a call and we will work something out on a set of ITB's.

thanks Neil for the offer- though I dont think I want to go with the ITB's at this time though, just more work that I'm not really willing to put in, as I am back to work on the Datsun now.

nope - we had ordered various Nissan V8 ones only to find out they were the same size as the stock Z one. I have toyed around with playing with one from a Z06, but its on the backburner for right now

thought you guys might find this interesting - this was my baseline dyno run from a couple weeks after getting the car. My only mod at the time was the UR crank pulley

and more recently (July 2007)

2 different dynos yes, but just shows you a "where we started vs where we are" comparison

I'll try to find the receipt...I mailordered it, but thats not all I used.
Basically I started with a basecoat of the dark gray wrinke paint (same as I used on the plenum), since that has the best texture to it. From there, I sprayed a light coat of silver, and then finally the red wrinkle coat. The red was the hardest, as it needs heat to wrinkle, and you have to be really careful, otherwise you end up bubbling the paint.
