got my hands on a revup airbox just to do some back to back testing while the weather is still hot - hopefully I'll be able to put it in next week and do some logging to see how it affects AIT in both cruising and traffic situations

also got my hands on some SPL front compression arm bushings, and plan on doing those, and the rest of the rear subframe bushings in the near future, followed by another alignment, as mine is overdue (about 2 years on the current spec and its starting to drift left now)

Did a quick down and dirty install of the 06 box tonight. Wasn't too warm
out but was humid. On my way to work this am with the open
filter I saw peak IATs of 118F. Tonight it didn't even hit 94F. That's a huge
difference considering

I'll do some more driving and logging this week
when the weather clears then I guess make a new
intake pipe and run the airbox going forward

I am glad to hear your new box works for you. Do you know what the ambient temps were?

Adam I'm sorry if its posted in the thread already but how many cfms do your heads flow?

Ever flow the stock manifold and then your ported manifold for a comparison?

Adam, I'm assuming you modified the v-stack in the 06 box, but aside from portmatching the surounding plastic of v-stack on the back flange panel that hooks up to your intake pipe, did you modify or cut any other pieces? Did you just cut that whole panel out?

Also, do you think the baffles on the inside of the airbox around the v-stack can be modified or smoothed out to enhance flow? My feeling is that they help with the laminar flow for the MAF sensor equipped cars, which may not be necessary in your case, since you do not use it. By the time it gets to the engine from the >2ft intake pipe, the airflow is probably pretty smooth and consistent.

For reference:
03-05 airbox vs. 06 airbox

cool to see the inside of those both side by side... assume the one on the right is a rev-up?

Also, all the ribs on the inside of the air box are for support ( so the air box lasts a long time and does not fall apart) but in some other cars they also help cancel sound waves and reduce intake resonance and noise. Many cars make more power by cutting/grinding those out.

I did not touch the inside of the airbox, and I didn't port match anything either -it's just on my car as it comes stock. Didn't really see the point in playing with it, I can't see it netting anything significant

I have no idea if there is an advantage to it over the pre 06 box or not to be honest. People assume there is because of the more pronounced velocity stack. Your guess is as good as mine. I don't have my stock 04 airbox here anymore to do a back to back with (wish I did). I just happened to grab this thing to test with, and since the IAT's dropped so much vs my open filter, I might as well stay with it. The other option was building a box for the HKS filter I was running, and maybe down the road I will do that, but for now, this was quick and easy to work with, and functional

understand. I was also thinking about building me one or CIN Motorsports build one for my popcharger. I would like to compare IATs and hp diff n popcharger and 06box with a K&N. I know the margin for hp for a intake is slim but if i could make the same power and achieve lower IAT i would buy a 06
