I am shopping for a s14 240sx se to accept my drivetrain. The mount kit is cheap and its an easy swap. The miata doesn't like the vq but I am buying one anyway because go karts are the mfsh@znit!

^He answered your question three post above.

Good find on that s14. Is the wheelbase longer the the z33?

The rear is a R200 and has 4 mounting points which is better than the z33. Being I am using the Z 6 speed ya its going to be just fine. This thread has gone from engine build to swap. This isn't going to happen for a while, I have to get the rest of the car done...suspension, brakes, every bushing, totally cleaned up, and diff. The a/c and cruise have to work or its pointless I want a totally clean fully functional car. Its going to be a sleeper. Wheelbase shorter, the Z has a very long wheelbase vs. its overall length.

So you bought it already? If you don't mind, how much was it?

It was under 4k but by the time I get even all the little stuff done it will be over that. It was a lucky find.

Talking to mckinney motorsports. They have really nice mounts, shifter bracket is from vq240z, and long tube headers. They quoted me $800 for the longtubes waiting on the specs. The only things are driveshaft and wiring. The total on the hard parts is like 2k then I have to do the header back exhaust. Adam picked up the S14 by you in west Islip.

I am putting a motor in a miata I got and all I can say is the vq would have been ridiculous height wise. The 240sx is awaiting cusco zero2's, spl tension rods(cause the stocks are blown like all of them), and a plethora of prothane bushings. Its going to be a boring buildup suspension, brakes, diff, and maintenance first. Don't want to drop the motor in a sloppy mess. It will make more power in the new car....

Good to hear from you. What engine is being transplanted to the miata? And are those 1cockyZ headers finally going to make their debut in the 240?

A low mileage stock jdm miata engine its a 1.8. I want to keep the miata stock except for suspension and wheels, well except for the 8lb flywheel. It has a spec stage 2 in it but I bought a exedy stock replacement clutch because I want it easy. The headers need to get done, I have been very lazy or overwhelmed. mostly lazy.

As soon as the holidays are over with I am getting the headers done and then I can totally strip down the z and have my garage back. I will be needing to put in an order to mckinney for mounts, headers, and shifter bracket. I keep telling my friends that I am going to remove the passenger seat and have the whole z harness, steering column with cluster and wheel, and triple gauges sitting there to just get it running.

This engine is running again, I sold it. Installed it personally in a 03' Z. It now has PPE nonstepped long tubes, Megan HR style Y pipe, and a fugitsubo cat back. To be tuned by RT shortly......09' max throttle body and custom upper intake plenum to follow after baseline is set with 3" ID maf. It's like I gave my kid up for adoption but I know it's going to a great home.

This was with PPE nonstepped long tubes, stock throttle body and 3" maf. Supposedly there were a couple runs that made 305hp but this is the end result. The sharp drop off is puzzling. Getting a vacuum gauge to do some testing. The bigger TB arrived the day after tuning
