Here are some pics during the break in

She is ready to fly, she is still on pump gas so we have the timing pulled way back and running her real rich. Starting the tune on E85 end of next week after we get some more miles on her, anxious to see the numbers!

Did you consider the JWT C8R cams? If so, why'd you choose the S7R?

Nice! Did you happen to do a before/after dyno with the Cosworth plenum? I'm been considering it (for my N/A setup), but I'd like to know what gains it can give me over the Crawford plenum. I know it will be the usual "small" N/A gains (maybe 5-12 hp or so).

Havent tuned the car for full power so I couldnt really tell you. We chose the S7R cams over the C8 cams after a 2 hours phone conversation with Jim Wolf himself lol. We told him our goals and what the car was used for. Great guy if you ever get the chance to talk to him.

I can't wait to see your results. If you ever come to a track in Texas, especially TWS, I want to check out your setup, as well as give you a run for your money

The larger fuel rails and injectors, along with (guessing) larger fuel lines (filter?) and maybe pump.

E85 primarily takes more fuel, many newer fuel systems are alcohol resistant, just not designed to flow 50% more than the OE tune.

Just the fuel rails, injectors, and pump. The stock lines should be sufficient.

Are you still running a returnless system?

Thats the reason I was thinking the lines would get replaced (mainly).

Gotcha, it isn't really necessary, just a way to ensure you've got enough fuel at the rail, its more important if you're running high boost (with turbo) or nitrous. Those both have a "shock" draw where the fuel suddenly gets drawn off, and you can get a lean spike.

I'm excited to see what kind of power you make though, this is definitely going to be a pretty awesome set of results.

I'm excited to see the results as well! Was there any work done on the lowest part of the intake manifold?

Well put about 500 miles on her and took her back up to get tuned today. Got a few other things to do to get her ready the track event next weekend but she should be ready. Should have some official numbers on Tuesday.

The breakin driving was fine, no problems. She definately wanted to pull hard in the top end but I didnt take it past 6k since it wasnt tuned. Real test will be next weekend.

Update!

We swapped in another tranny for the mean time while we tear my old one apart to further study it. Car is just about ready for this weekend. As far as the final tune went, she put down 292whp, 246tq on the E85. We are having the power fall off around 6800, which in our opinion is a little early especially with the cams/head work we have gone with. Once we get through this weekend, we are going to throw her back on the dyno after the motor loosens up a bit. We dont see why we cant break into the 300-310 area on a mustang dyno, which would be about 330-340whp on a dynojet for those concerned with higher numbers. The tune is pretty conservative since the motor is built to last for at least 2 years of road racing and time trials. For their first NA build, with a haltech, on E85, I give mad props to the guys at Japtrix. We still have alot of tweaking and work to do so its only up from here! I will make a new post with her performance this weekend at Homestead Speedway!
