Obviously in cali, that wont matter to you. But here in Chicago, the winters suck!

cant wait to see what the Cosworth does for your car!!!!!
Glad to hear that you got some usefulness from this thread. Hopefully it'll be able to save you a few hundred bucks in the future.

Cusco was one of my options as well, but I ended up with the Quaife since it appeared to be better from the reviews and specs I read. On the other hand, I'm sure I'd be happy with either since both are better then the stock VLSD.

Yeah me too, I really hope that the Cosworth piece doesn't come out to be $1000 dissapointment.

Any reason you used an Apexi Filter instead of a Pop Charger?

The SPL bushings are solid aluminum. I was concerned about ride comfort but from what everyone has said, the ride difference in ride comfort is negligable.

I went with the Apexi because the opening is larger (i thought large enough for the MAF but not quite) and it's a dry filter.

Also for those that haven't seen a Greddy Infotouch. Looks pretty slick IMO.

Yeah, it does come with a velocity stack. However i just did some fitment test comparing it to the JWT popcharger and its' only...1mm bigger in diameter It's significantly smaller, also it's a lot lighter since the velocity stack is not made of aluminum (which makes it easier to port out i guess). Pic below is with the 3" MAF on top of it, you can see the area where the APEXI is smaller, also to the left is the JWT. Probably not worth it if you have the JWT already...

Do you want to know the height of the stack or the opening?

78mm, reason why i mentioned height as well is because the velocity stack is much shorter then the JWT, almost half the height.

Hey Gabe, your set-up is about exactly what I want to do to mine. Is the Greddy infotouch new? Does it read AFRs? I don't want any external gauges and trying to find an OBD2 meter that displays Air Fuel Ratio readings.

I am learning quite abit from this. Can't wait for the results and your reviews of it all once installed!!!

It does but it's horrendous. It basically derives the AFR from the narrowband O2 reading but you'll need to put in some offset. I compared it to the AFR reading of an Innovative and I just can't get the same reading, nothing even close. Other then that the unit is nice, will be better if i had a car with a wideband O2 sensor.

Gabe,

Let me know if you get a very prominent noise with that apexi filter.

I had an apexi intake in a previous car. I loved the audible suction noise.

That's because your car only has narrowband sensors from the factory. If the car has factory widebands, it will read off those. As I recall you can connect an external wideband to it as well

I was also looking into the external sensors that you can connect to it and as of now it is hardcoded to only work with Boost, Water/Oil Pressure, and Water/Oil Temp. That is the only combination that will work, but of course you can opt for less sensors.

Still trying to find an AFR reader that is not too obstructive and nice looking, preferably not circular where I will need a pod. Do you have any suggestions?

the PLX DM5AFR, while circular, is only 18mm thick and could go anywhere. Just need to get their controller/sensor with it as well. Zeitronix has a similar setup as well

The Zeitronix LCD display (ZT2) is also really nice

I'm working with Adam getting my purchase list ready but I've come across an exhaust problem.

I have an inbound Bassani exhaust which is 2.25 OD and I believe the inlet is 2.25. That's fine and dandy and I even found some resonated TPs for it (Ichiba 2.25") but I have yet to find headers. The Tomei headers have a 2.5 outlet which won't fit my TPs. NISMO R-tune has a 2.25 outlet but they're too pricey. I'm still Google searching around...

Gabe,

You (or anyone reading) know good headers that will fit?

The tomei v2 outlets are 60mm ID, which comes out to be around 2.36". I once measured my Ichiba TPs and if i recall correctly they were actually bigger then 2.25" ID. I'm not too sure of any TPs that are bigger then 2.5" OD other the the Fast Intentions one that measures 3"(not sure if ID or OD, but in any case it'll be bigger then 2.25 ID). It's little tricky to find information about the diameter of the TP because some of the mfg don't list whether they are talking about ID or OD. Let us know of your research. I'm still waiting for MD to come out with theirs that is supposedly going to help with noise without any performance hit, else I would have bought the Tomei TP which are mated perfectly for their headers, measuring in at 60mm. HTH.
