Wow, this is so old I had forgotten about it. I already installed my C2's after giving up on any results here. Modified is later and later every month. It came in yesterday and there is no article on cams in there. So hold on another 38-45 days 'till they publish another one.

I haven't seen anything because my OEM Y pipe is preventing me from having a properly stepped exhaust. I have been waiting over three months for Motordyne to start producing the XYZ pipe again and they are making everything but what I need
Judging from my AFR and fuel maps, I'm not picking up anymore air flow except just off idle. Once the $^%#@&* Y pipe comes in I will hopefully see increased flow and do a solid tune. Only then will I dyno and see how it goes. I'm the guy who also installed HR exhaust manifolds on a DE motor, so the wait on Motordyne is absolutely KILLING me.

Are headers really necessary for aftermarket cams?
I recently installed JWT C2's + HD Springs and butt-dyno indicates there's a gain past 4.5k. My limit also tops 7k rpm now.
I've already got CAI, Plenum Spacers, TPs and Axleback exhaust but I'm not really sure though if installing "better" headers and Ypipe would make a significant difference??
I've been browsing through threads and everyone has mixed views about the header/ypipe. Well about some good info coming from aftermarket Cam users?

Headers aren't necessary, but they are the first section of piping that air goes through once it is compressed. If you have a larger area to blast that air into, it will leave faster, in most circumstances. Having larger exhaust piping after the headers does nothing if the air can't go through the headers at a greater volume.
If you install cams that can move a larger amount of air into and out of your cylinders, you need to open up the inlet for the air going in (intake mods and headwork), to reach maximum fill, and open the back end so the air can escape faster (exhaust porting and exhaust mods).
Some people don't see gains because of a bottleneck earlier in their setup. I'm sure if you had dynos, your powerband would mimic the rest of the NA w/ bolt ons; they peak at 6-6.3k and drop off after that. Most bolt ons will show gains from 3800-6300rpm.
Check out my built thread in the NA builds section. I've discussed this a little.
Post your dynos so you can support your claims and get some useful advice.

Just took a look at the results in the Dec. 10 issue and it was a lot closer than I thought it would be. Also, I'm interested to know if the cams he had in there orginally were the Nismo 284's (Spec-2's), after seeing the results and reading his surprise to the cams that were thought to be the Nismo street grinds I'm guessing they are actually the Spec 2's.

Glad you guys saw it!
I was just at SEMA and Pete gave the last issue to my friend Andrew (if you saw the SpeedHunters preview that is the S2K time attack build), so I won't be able to scan it for you guys. Checked the news stands and it's still not out here yet, but if someone would scan it and post it up here for us that would be awesome.
The results are incredibly close, as one would expect by pairing very similar cams. The biggest shock was realizing we were actually not running Nismo cams this whole time - I feel bad for un-intentionally misleading anyone.
The actual cams we are using are the JWT GA cams, which are very high duration with low lift to work with the stock springs. This explains why the engine has such trouble holding idle!
We are now going to start on the big cam test, Clark from JWT has sent up C9 and C10 cams, I already have C8s here. We are waiting on Nismo Spec 2, and Tomei race cams, BC cams and hopefully Kelfords. It's going to be a busy, busy time testing all of these cams!

What I did find interesting was the vastly different cam lobe profiles for such similar durations and lifts. One would expect to see the different cams almost indiscernible, but that's not the case. I always wondered what Adam was talking about when he would continually talk about "ramp-rates" and "advertised specs" but now its very clear.
