Pistons went together.

Some of the damn wrist pin retaining clips broke during assembly so I have to order them another delay.

howd you manage to break the clips? i managed to have one go through my finger under the nail!! lol boy, those skirts are short. haha. are they all notched the same for all 6 pistons. i was somewhat stumped with my cp pistons about the notches on the bottom of the skirts but i guess it works cuz the bottom end spins over freely

He said they did not sit flush like he wants and he was concerned they were damaged when he tried to make them flush.

ok. the clips are a certain thickness to match with the groove in the piston for them to slide into. either you had some that were too thick OR he just didnt have them snapped in all the way. thats just my guess....cuz they are a royal PITA to get snapped in. trust me lol

do me a fav and take a pic of both halves of the piston skirts. the side with the notch for the squirters and the opposite side. does JE tell you specifically how to arrange the pistons? cuz CP didnt.

He said they were a bit*h, that his fingers are killing him from them and these two would not seat as he wanted them to.

There will be no squirters, the 88MM crank makes them a problem. Here are the only pictures I have not posted of the pistons.

I'll be there tomorrow and can take pictures if those aren't what you are looking for.

yeah they sucked terribly bad to get in. using a screwdriver to get it slid in sucks.....and ended up stickin the end of a clip atleast 1/4" inch into my finger. lol

but yeah, i guess since you're stroked that doesnt apply since the skirts are pretty much non-existent. lol

Another delay, the block was not set up for the crank so it is back to the machine shop.

AND

2 of the ACL rod bearings were bent, ACL sold me a new set (they don't have them piecemeal) for 1/3 of their list of 99 bucks.

Also, ACL had a recall on the thrust washers and thought they got them all back. It was part of why they gave me the great buy on the bearings.

Nice update. Sucks for the delay, I know you want to get that bad boy in already.

I have been waiting for almost a year (since I started collecting parts) so a bit more is something I am used to.

I'd rather wait and have it done properly than try to rush and be fooked.

Thanks

Only took me 3 days to put the engine together and have it ready to start in the car! Stop slacking!!!

On a side note, I do want to see what kinda numbers a stroker motor makes

I am not doing the build. If I could it would have been done months ago.

I assume you did a simple rebuild. This is a totally custom build that has had delays at every turn. The over sized valves, the over bore, the 88mm crank to name a few hurdles that cost time.

That reminds me. Shipping delays, fabrication of the pistons by JE, fab of the head gaskets by Cometic, machine shop delays, return to the machine shop and the current wait to get the block back so the crank can turn freely with the rods & pistons installed (little bit important)

On & on & on. I'll be lucky to have it done by the end of the month when I want to take it to L.A. but I am hopeful.
