WTF kind of question is that

The base model is the lightest of the Z's...therefore I'd say its quicker.

In reality, the base model is not as quick when you take it to a race track due to the lack of a LSD and heavy OEM wheels. The Brembo brakes on the track model also allow the car to stay on the track longer because of their much improved braking capacity and endurance.

despite all the talk about different models, the fastest one still the fully equiped touring model (for 03-04). Ironic isn't it? Even with all the weight of the luxury feature ( leather, heated, etc.). The new model (05 +) got more hp, but less torque....so that how older model still a tad faster.

I find info about this from this forum, search around and you'll find some interesting stuff.

Anyway, a Z is a Z, it's a good car, just enjoy it.

Not really, the fastest model is definitely not the base model

I was worried that the LSD would make a big diff...I dont care about leather, nav, stereo....so thats why I am maybe getting the base one.

I have the base coupe...I've driven in heavy rain without any problems.

But I've read on this forums that an aftermarket LSD is better than factory LSD (Cusco is a good option)

My reason for buying the base is I do not need navigation, or leather seats. Leather is only good when its in german cars. The limited slip I will put my own in it. Cruise control, well ill figure that one out soon i have an idea on how to do it it will only cost me like 50$ to try it.

I think it's adventageous with the weight, but the open diff really sucks, I know cause I really need an LSD way bad along with a different tire setup. I could get way faster by just getting top of first / 2nd to hook up.

who cares what car is faster or what have you. its what ever your preference is. personally speaking i can olny sit in a car with leather trim on it. Its just classier. thats why i bought the touring package. who cares about navi thats why we have maps. people are getting lazy nowadays. what ever happened to just getting directions the old fashioned way or just knowing where you have to go. the stereo system on the touring is awesome. again personal preference. to thell you the truth i have never seen a base model Z on therse part. NYC. just my 2 cents
