Hi, I don't own a Z yet, but I am thinking about it....
Hi everyone.
I'm new here and this is my first post. I live in California...wine country...about an hour north of San Francisco.
From the very first time I saw a 350Z I have thought it's one of the most beautiful cars ever built. I have the option now of buying a slightly used (2 years old or so, 20K miles) one.
What I would like to know is what the cost of ownership, upkeep is like. Assuming one uses it on a regular basis (daily driver) is the cost of maintenance quite high? Are the tires really $200 each?
Just want to get a sense from some of you who drive yours frequently.
Thank you

sounds like your gonna keep it as a daily driver. then there reallly isnt any major cost associated with it.
Tires: ive found some for 107 before at shops, avg is about 140 a tire.
oil changes: typical 25 bucks or so.
Brakes: average shop pads are 30 bucks a set. went through my fronts at about 30,000 miles or so.
However, this sporty beast has a nack for making its owners spend tons on the aftermarket parts! so if thats not your thing you should be okay.
i have 48,000 miles on mine and nothing major to pay for maintenance wise.
hope ya get one and post a pic when you do!

I have a 2003 and at 27k miles all I've had to spend money on has been oil changes and 1 set of front brake pads. Nothing else. The cost of ownership is minimal if you take care of the car.
The $200 tires are for the guys with non-stock sizes. Larger tires are more expensive, as are the stickier kind.

Thanks guys.
Yes, it would probably be a daily driver. I may also be getting a used, older Tacoma for any moving of larger items. But the Z would be doing most of my transport.
So, what I am after is whether it's cost practical for that. I know it's not a Honda Civic and I'm being realistic that way...but I am imagining its cost to run isn't as high as say a Porsche or other more expensive sports cars.
So basically I am hopeful that it's a fairly reliable vehicle.
Thanks
(The one I am thinking of is a manual, silver, 2004....20K miles....asking price is 21K). I may also look at some others.

Honestly, I owned a civic before this, and wow...
I got my Z on 12/28/06, so im a new owner, and let me tell you... If you want a fun car with plenty of power, the Z is for you. Its fun as hell to drive, so far I have no buyers regret at all, then again I havent had it that long.
But go for it dude, its not that expensive, well worth the money.

Honestly I didn't expect much reliability from Nissan but my Z has been solid. Even through snow, tons of rain, and sunny So Cal. Runs like a champ.
And my folks BOTH bought Altimas because they liked the Z and I was always gushing about it.

expect your insurance to go up fast...
unless you were driving an expensive luxury car or sports car before this.
mine jumped from 600 a year to about 212 a month.
recently got it down to 158 a month.
oh btw,
im 27 male with clean driving record
so the shot up in inusrance increase was solely based on changing my old car to a Z roadster
