Just bought an 05 Z friday, some issues...help?
I picked up an 05 touring 350z with 32k a few days ago from nissan world of Denville, in northern New Jersey. The asking price was $25k, I ended up paying $19900, before all the BS fees and whatnot of course. Before purchasing the car i gave it a pretty good lookover and found some minor cosmetic issues and a pretty good smack on the subframe that didn't seem too bad. Today I brought it into work (mercedes dealership) to find that the front and rear bumpers appear to have been repainted, poorly at that. In addition i found a bent rim that i couldn't have seen at the dealership, as they had raised it on an alignment rack. Also a hit on the exhaust that seems to have tilted the whole thing just a bit crooked that i just plain did not see at first inspection. Oh, and the cd player skips like a bastard when the car is cold.
So, to my question, what recourse do I have? I'm aware that I'm very limited legally here and I'm afraid I'm at this dealership's mercy. What would you out there with a bit more experience do? There is an existing drive train warranty, plus I purchased the extended "bumper to bumper" warranty.
Please refrain from chastising me for the hasty purchase, I know I should have brought it to a local shop to be inspected, I guess I trusted myself too much to catch everything after the war I went through with the salesman to get the price down. Thanks and I hope to be around the board for a while.
I'll snap some pics after work tomorrow

I know that it won't help you but : .. for the money you saved on the car (5K you said) you can replace all the faulty parts (replace the repainted bumpers with an aero kit - good excuse, new rim and reattach the exhaust) ...

The dealership didn't have a 7 day money back quarantee or anything? I mean, I know it ain't carmax, but dang that sucks to not be able to bring it back despite all the flaw you found later. I doubt anyone spots ALL of the dings and stuff in the first or second walk around on a use vehicle.
Most places by law, let you back out of a deal in two weeks if you find that the product is not what you expected or is damaged. I'd consider that Z-car damaged and return it. There are so many Z-cars for sell find one without all thoughs problems. I could see if you had done that to your Z and you could live with it but if its a recently bought 2005 Z-car, I'd take it back to the dealership and either select another one there or go elsewhere.
I suggest you get back to the dealer pronto and throw a **** fit.
Car clearly misrepresented by the dealer. Familiarize yourself w
state law on returns for vehicles in NJ. Demand a full and complete
refund. With the amount of money at stake I do not believe you
can afford to keep the car and fix the litany of issues you describe.
Get on the phone with the dealership manager and set an appointment
to return this afternoon. You could be harming yourself in waiting
another day.
****in Dealers. Deserve ZERO respect. Always put a used car on a
lift. I like to take the bumpers off. Just to avoid this type of <RIPOFF>.

was it carfaxed certified? did you pay for a warranty? Most dealerships have 30 day return policy.. i'd go back there and pitch a fit, and tell those ****ers you want your money back and you'll be happy to purchase another Z in GOOD condition from them.

LEMON LAW and contractal law states there is a period even in a lawful sell/con that the product must match up to the expectation of similar same year product. Unless the vehicle sold is stated as being damaged and the price should reflect that, or the contract is not forfilled. $25k-$19k doesn't reflect a discounted price, youv'e been had.
Take that POS 350Z back to them and threaten to get a lawyer & call their branch manager!

Thanks for the input guys, I gotta say no one seems to be able to agree on what protection I have here, I researched a bit of NJ state law, which seemed to indicate that I have no legal recourse. I was then told by my service manager at work that I do have 14 days to return a car if the car has issues I was not told about. I called them yesterday and I seem to be getting the run-around. I plan on bringing it in after work tomorrow to flail my arms in the air and yell at them until I get what I want.
I'll be sure to post some pics to give you guys a better idea of what I have going on here, thanks for the info. The salesman was a real stab you in the back while smiling to your face type, god I hate car salesmen.
EDIT: Oh, and I did request a carfax, which came back clean, though I'm disinclined to believe that means much.
