Hey guys new to the forum here, I need some advice on my 06 ZR
Wussup fellow Z owners. I'm kinda new to this site so I'm still trying to navigate through it, plus my internet is kinda slow, I'm over here in Iraq. Anyways enough with the introductions, I just want to get to the point. I've had my 06 ZR with the rev up transmission (ok ok I already know, WHY AN AUTO TRANSMISSION?? long story short, it was a present from my parents I didnt know they bought me one) for about 2 years with 13k miles on it and I haven't done anything to it, it is bone stock. These multiple war deployments to iraq keep me from touching my car. I've been wanting to modify it for a long time now and finally this coming summer of 2009 Im getting out of the ARMY and I'm planning to heavily modify my Z. I've been deciding wether to go with Boost or N/A, and I've come to the decision that I want to go the N/A route mainly because of my auto transmission (maybe in the future ill go for boost if i get a manual transmission dropped in). Now the questions:
First off I want to get rid of the auto transmission, how much would it cost to drop a manual transmission and how hard would it be to find a good mechanic to install it??
My first three parts to up my HP will be:
INJEN cold air intake
INJEN exhaust (to go with the intake)
BORLA headers or DC headers
If you guys have any recommendations or know of better upgrades that will give me more HP, please let me know. I want to build this Z right.
BODY KIT
Im getting the buddyclub2 widebody kit and mixing it up with the Veilside version 3 wing.
Any thoughts or recommendation on this one?
Now for my tires since I'm going wide body I need to get wide tires to accomodate the extra space the fender flares will give: (Ive got two choices, which ever one more people recommend its the one I'm going to get, I already know big tires = lose HP)
Im going for an offset 19x8.5 front and 19x10 rear OR 20x8.5 front 20x9.5 rear
which one would look better??
SUSPENSION
For my suspension I've decided to go for a coilover kit my choices are from Buddy Club and Tein. Which one would be better or more reliable? Again any recommendation would be nicely appreciated.
BRAKES
Again I have two choices for this one either one from GREDDY or from BREMBO.
Those are a couple of the mods I'm planning to order. My budget for this project is $28,000 and I want to make sure I spend every penny wisely. The reason I chose to go N/A for now is because of the damn auto transmission, i see no point in me getting a TT set up for an auto transmission. This might sound like a stupid question, but are there any TT auto Z's out there?? If so please let me know and give me some insight. If I manage to get a manual transmission dropped in I am definitely going for boost, I already have my mind set on the APS TT kit.
The purpose of this Z project car is not for racing or anything, my street racing days are over this Z will be my daily driver when I get out of the army and I want it to look good and go fast and be street legal at the same time. I just want it to be able to hold its ground when one of those college punks roll up next to me on a stop light. I also want it to be a chick magnet at the same time, not that it doesnt look good the way it is already, but still I want it to be a female magnet hahahaha. Hey I've been in iraq for 3 years and I've been sex deprived for a long time, I need as many females as I can. Anyways any input from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Hey dude just trying to help not a real pro at all the Zeeeeing lol but body kit is a no go if you ask me and I will tell you why. Body kits add on lots of wieght and if you dont put the right one on you might just destroy the look on your car man. If I were you i would put 18 inch rims and put tein coilovers because they are supose to be one of the top ones out there. Instead of a body kit just put a nice lip kit it will look great plus with just a little spoiler. Keep in mind that I say this since your staying n/a for now ok, you really dont want to add some wieght to the Z since its already a pretty heavy car sadly. For a tranny I dont want to put your hopes up but i think a manual tranny should drop pretty much in and I beleive you could find a good used one laying around somewhere just search for a while it might be worth it. for the intake I think the injen is a good choice, I have a jwt popcharger and simply love it it whistle and sounds like a mini turbo lol and I also dont need to worry about hydrolock since its a short ram. The exhaust too is a nice choice, maybe look into a y pipe and hfc to go with it since its those 2 parts from the exhaust that really puts a restriction to the car. Also another nice modd for the car is maybe a plenum, check out the mrev setup it seems to have good technology worked into it. Anyways thats all for now hope it helps out man. Also if you really want big rims and a body kit the choice is yours obviously lol just wanted to give my opinion I do not intend to bring you down on your idea just wanted to show my side of it on a friendly level lol peace.
