Default New 08 350z

Well, I just got a brand new 6MT san marino blue 08 350z last tuesday for about 26,400 out the door with a 2,500 rebate. very fun car to drive. :]
Ill get some pictures up when I can.

What are the major things I should look out for with the 350? I'm completely new with sports car maintenance.. bought it with 51 miles, now have around 330 ish. any recommendations on when i should get my first oil change? I heard people say 500 miles is good and then switch it up after? I've read my manual and talked to the dealer, but my friends have been saying different things. They own and MR2 turbo and s2k though so I'm not quite sure on how much they know about a Z.

Welcome aboard! Suppose you will get alot of different answers about oil changes - I'm not obsessive and go by the manufacturer recommendations - good luck with it. The car is generally solid. I would suggest, however, looking out for everyone else and being defensive on the road - since the car is small it is not easily noticed by others in traffic. Great color by the way.

Not sure if there is anything to look out for. Just drive the car and have fun. Congratulations.

Welcome to the club! You will definitely not regret your purchase! You have an HR motor. If you are not aware, the HR motor was the newly designed motor for year models 2007-2008. It is much more potent and has a much better power curve compared to the DE motors (2003-2006). A good half second faster in the quarter mile!

Also for oil change I recommend changing the oil out at 1,000 miles, and then at 3,000 miles, and then again at 5,000 miles. During these mile intervals you engine will be "breaking in". After 5,000 it is your choice of how long you want to wait out the intervals. For example, if you track your car a lot I recommend you change your oil often, something like every 2,500 miles. If it is a daily driver then you can last a good 4-5,000 miles on a quality synthetic oil..

BTW check out this thread for more info on what oil to use in you new Z:
