brand new Z, does stalling many times damage engine?
i have purchased a brand new 08 Z touring..
this is my first manual car and have stalled about 20 times in the past 2 days..
im still getting used to the clutch and im slowly getting better.
just wondering if i keep stalling will it **** the engine?

yeah i would think if you keep stalling the car 20 times every few days the tranny/engine will be affected. so please do what the previous post said, rental ftw.
also a hint on taking off. you can get the car moving without the accelerator. try to see if you can let off the clutch just enough for the car to start rolling a little. and that is the sweet point. keep doing that without stalling the car. so release just enough for it roll then press the clutch in all the way to prevent stalling. then start over. once you get used to the travel distance, at that point is where you should gently hit the accelerator.

Don't worry you will be fine. My Z was my first manual too, I still beleive it is the toughest car to learn stick on.
Believe me I stalled plenty when I got it. Your car will be fine. I have had it for a year now and no problems at all.
Also as much as people say dont ride the clutch, you do have to ride it when going slow, espeically when you start learning, such as going in and out of parking spots and tight areas you may want to only engage it half way. It will not burn it as long as you are not revving it while doing that.
I agree do not ride your clutch when moving more than 5-10 miles an hour, but creeping slowly, sometimes you just have to.

Maybe it's my age, but i think the clutch in my '03 was the easiest to get used to. At the same time, neither of my daughters could get the hang of it, but that is fine by me, 'cuase they are not going to be driving it anyway! And yes, entirely possible to engage without touching the gas - just be real easy letting it out - you have to figure out the friction point and it is different on every car.
It took me about a week to get used to the "long" clutch engagement.
ive been driving it for about a week now, first manual car ive driven. somedays are perfect, somedays are a little jerky. for me the long engagement point is taking a little to get used to since i moved my seat around
Well I guess if you are sitting sideways or backwards now, then that could lead to some problems.

It's not really bad,your not really abusing the car (yet). You should learn how to drive manual on a beeter first. Don't worry if you burn the clutch ask your DAD to buy you another one, (a new clutch i mean).

its going to be fine unless you continually stall the engine. The Z was also the first car that i learnt manual in. Its really hard at first, but once you get it, driving most other manuals is a lot easier compared to the Z.
