If you buy your tires online from somewhere like tirerack or discounttire, you can get a new set of tires for not much more than the $350 you'll be spending on those aftermarket wheels and used tires.

Beggers can't be choosers :P Just looking on tirerack, you can get the 225/45-18 fronts as cheap as $88 each and the 245/45-18 rears as cheap as $114 each for a grand total of $404. You can probably find a set for even cheaper than this if you shop around. I would say to install new tires on your factory wheels as they are the offset Nissan specified and IMHO look better than the other wheels/tires of unknown origin that you are looking at. That's my 2 cents, it's your choice when it comes down to it.

Gotta pay to play!!

The Z is no more expensive to maintain then any other car Nissan makes. But you DON"T want to go cheap on tires!! Even if you don't drive like an idiot, they can mean the difference between life and death in the right situation. Remember...brake's aren't worth crap, no matter how expensive they are, if you have cheap set of tires on the car.

If you do cheap out don't drive in the rain, snow, or temps below 40 degrees.

You can drive in the snow if you have to, just drive like you are in snow, and not living a 1/4 mile at a time, and you'll be ok. Summer tires do suck though! I love having more power due to the denser winter air, but i hate that i can't get any of it to the road because of summer tires!

I've heard of this snow before... all I ever see is the unfrozen version of it around here, sometimes combined with strong winds
