Default Tomorrow is the day

New to the forum and new to the 350z. I come from a big Nissan family and currently drive an 08.5 Nissan Titan Crew Cab. We're getting rid of my wife's Xterra and are getting a 350z...hopefully tomorrow. I want a Lemans Sunset pretty bad and have found a nice 350z Enthusiast with good miles we plan to look at tomorrow. If it doesn't work out then we've got two Touring models we'll look at. One is an '03 with 51k miles (white w/ light cream/tan interior) and an '05 with 62k miles (yellow w/black interior, navigation). I'm hoping we can make a deal on one so I can officially be a Z owner. I really want the Lemans Sunset, but I'm fine with the other light colors.

Any advice on the three models? I'll list the details.

2004 Enthusiast
Lemans Sunset with black cloth
51,000 miles
Asking price is $15,795

2005 Touring
Yellow with black leather (heated/power seats)
Navigation and BOSE stereo
62,000 miles
Asking price is $15,975

2003 Touring
White with light colored leather interior (heated/power seats)
BOSE stereo
51,000 miles
Asking price is $12,999

Yeah, but they cost more. I would imagine that a Z of any year is better than no Z at all...

shy away from the 03-04s if you can... rev-up is a much better motor... you only get it in 05 if you have a 6 speed or the 04.5 anniversary has the rev-up too... track model wheels are super light and look into getting an extended warranty too!!!

Haha, I think I know which 2003 white 350z you're talking about. I'm from Georgia too, and I'm also looking for a 350z, and I see his post on CL pretty often. It's this one right? http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/ctd/1671771510.html

The best advice I can give is to completely ignore this post.

Welcome. Considerable price difference between the 2003 and 2004 (about $3,000). I recommend the 2003.

Is it just me or are those prices a bit high? I thought you can get a used base model 07-08 for about 15k these days.

Problem-wise, I'd look at the '05, but talk 'em down on price. It's a little high for the miles.

$15,000+ for anything older than an 06 with 50k miles is a rip off. Finding a 40-50k mile, decent condition 07-08 base for 15k isn't that rare. I just picked up my 07 Base with 21k miles for a little more than that. It's in great condition inside and out too.

No, look above.

To the OP, as people have said, if you're willing to spend anything over $14,000 for 03-04-05 with over 50k miles, trust me, spend a little more and get an 07-08 with the HR Motor. It is a really nice car and worth the extra grand or two. Keep looking and you will find the right one. Stay away from any Z's that are 06 and Stick, stay far away.

The 03 was the first year, I would go with the 04 since it has been in production a little longer...jmho.

Rev-up oil consumption issue. There's about a gazillion posts on here about it.

Wrong, I don't know where you live. But I found many 07 HR's with ~30k miles for $15-16k. I found at least 2. I ended up buying one for that price with 21k miles and it's clean title and no problems. I guess it really depends on where you are located. I guess CA has cheaper cars.

Been out all freakin' day long...but I have my Z. We decided to go look at the yellow 2005 first and got what we felt was a good deal on it and took it. It is actually a 2005 35th Anniversary Edition with pretty much every option I'm aware of other than volume controls on the steering wheel. It has the power/heated black leather seats, navigation, DVD, etc. It had some really worn Bridgestone Potenzas on it that I hated. Got some Dunlop Direzzas put on and it made a massive difference, to me anyways. Took it by a local shop with a couple of big Z guys and had them look it over really good. Other than some tiny rock chips on the front end that had a **** poor touch-up job done to them, everything else checked out great. It was a one owner car and the interior was flawless. The previous owner had actually traded it in for an '09 370z. Got it for $14,900. I'm sure with a bit more patience I could've found a little better deal...but I'm really happy with it. The original window sticker came with it and the retail price on it new was $41,000.

I'm thrilled with it.
