Default New to the Forum my wodebody 04 roadster

Hey guys just joined the forum. This is my second Z and i havent really posted much as i have only been really dumping money into my last project which was my 94 lexus sc300 with a 2jzgte manual swap, big single t77, methanol injection, etc etc, but ive always had a love for the z, its looks the ride the handling, its just a very awesome car so heres the start of my project. Its an 04 350z roadster just some basic visual upgrades, widebody, molded sides, axis staggered 20's vis carbon fiber hood, house of kolors black gold pearl. hope you guys like it. ill be pulling the motor and doing a forged turbo build very soon. im not digging the front end so itll be coming off soon but anyways i hope you guys enjoy.

Welcome new guy and you just got praise from everyone when you said you will be ditching the front end. A+ on that.

Welcome and hope you enjoy the new ride. Hope you have fun playing with her and personalizing the car to make her yours. You mentioned possibly changing the front - have you started considering any specific front ends yet?

i have not at all looked at other front ends yet, im definately looking for something thats not that gaudy..its a bit much for my taste. as of now im having the wheels powdercoated black, spacing out the wheels and then going for the more subtle front. Its crazy though how many people come up to me with the way it looks now. its definately been an attention grabber. its just lacks in the performance area for my taste so im ready to build the motor more then anything.

Are you a DIY guy, or do you already have a shop that you worked with on the lex? I look forward to seeing your build thread.

It seems like the tried and true fronts are the Nismo fronts. Seems like the popular crowd runs Nismo fronts and Volk wheels and calls it a day. I like the Shine SL2 because it's similar to the Nismo, but just different enough to not be common. The Amuse is popular and looks nice as well. I sorta do my own thing...

Anyways, there are tons of cars on here to use as examples... just remember that since you already have the wide body, it's going to take some extra body work to match up another front bumper to those widebody fenders.

im definately a diy guy. ive built everyone of my cars on my own. i do it all besides the bodywork, machining and tuning. On my supra i have been playing with map ecu 3 a bit and when i was into the whole dsm game i played with megasquirt a bit. But as of now im definitely on the hunt to de-rice this front end. As of now looking for some spacers to to flush her up a bit. I never have liked kits or any of that non sense. But i will say i like the uniqueness of it. The majority of the world not into cars have absolutely no idea what kind of car it even is. But i will subtle her out a bit and start my forge build.

Check out this thread on UpRev: https://my350z.com/forum/tuning/5188...ing-101-a.html

Also, since you asked -

Assuming unlimited budget, but wanting to stick with the basic style of the current car:

1) not crazy about the front because it doesn't flow with the lines of the car (I'd have a good body shop match up an Amuse front end to the widebody)
2) due to widebody fenders, wheel widths need to be more aggressive (10"+ fronts & 11.5"+ rears)
3) due to widebody fenders, offsets need to be more flush (5-10mm in front, 15-25mm in rear)
4) due to widebody style, car should be lower (1"+ lower)
3) a dark wheel (gunmetal, black, etc) would flow with the black better
4) painted black 06+ headlights would flow with the rest of the car
5) widebody deserves your forged turbo build so power matches style
6) tall radio control antenna on roadsters should be replaced with a shorty
7) BBK and larger rotors to fill out space behind the wheels

Sparkle just gave you all the details. Sell the wheels
And find something more fit appropriate. You can hack
UP a v2 or v3 if you you can't find a diff front end.

to be honest, you can buy whatever youd like. Wiodebody ( if it was even done all the way as that ie cutting the fender metal etc) is not a large diversion from OEM.

If i wanted to go back to a normal wiodth car, id buy a set of seibon carbon rear fenders ( OEM look) or a do luck rear fender kit and be done. Buy whatever you find that you like OP.. look under the fenders and see if they even cut them at all. Thats the only area youd have to do body work on at all. Maybe your gas cap.

I couldn't agree more with everything you've stated. As for the wheels i do not mind them so much. I will be having them powder coated black asap and using a 25 mm out back and a 10mm up front. The axis's are a bit big for me. I wouldv'e never put a 20" wheel on any sports car especially a Z. To me 19 seems the limit.

Im getting ready to order a bbk now and i appreciate all of your guys imput. An money is always a factor. I don't have unlimited funds i have bills just like the rest of you guys. This will probably be a year long project and hoping for a fun 450-500 rwhp for a good time. Like i said even the supra doesnt ride or feel like being on the inside of a Z. Just wish the 2jzgte wouldve been in the Z. hmmmm......maybe ill look into it.

i believe there painted. I would say it was done with a couple coats of that nightshades paint. But i will get out there today and check them out closely to see if it is indeed tint.

Also that 2jzgte swap is pretty sickness. Ive done a couple of 2jz and 1jz swaps...i may be interested in doing this swap myself. That guy is doing a very solid job on his swap. i will say hes going to regret the r154 with edging around 600 rwhp ive had 3 grenade on me at 560 rwhp and even with one trans being marlin crawler built and cryo treated. I hope he opts out and just gets the v160 in there hell be much happier in the end.
