Default Just bought an '03 350z... What should I be looking out for?

Hello all!

I just bought an '03 350z this weekend and was wondering if you guys had any wisdom about things I should be looking out for (I.E. possible timing belt replacements or wacky stuff of that nature I've dealt with in the past with other cars), as well as if I got a decent deal.

^There she is!^

I paid $10,000 flat cash after taxes.

Notable Stuff:
- Clean CARFAX
- 1 Previous Owner
- 90,000 miles
- 6 speed manual (with a 2 week old brand new clutch)
- AEM Cold Air Intake

Just took it into my mechanic today and he said she's got a clean bill of health, just needs new back brakes and some new tires. Total bill of about $919.00 including an oil change and smog check (which the broker is reimbursing me for).

QUESTIONS:
1. Did i get ripped off?

2. Is there anything I should be worried about (I.E. transmission issues/random problems) with this mileage/year?

3. What are some suggestions for some nice and affordable matte black rims that would look nice on her?

Welcome, I have a 03 myself

Watch out for the tranny, hopefully yours has a CD009 (newer model) otherwise watch out for a 3rd gear grind. Mine started about 4 weeks after I got it.
The window motors suck too, I still have the original motors (need to replace one) others aren't so lucky.

Other than that just take good care of it and it will be good to you.

Check out the marketplace and you can find some good deals on wheels.

With the AEM Cold Air Intake I would invest in a bypass valve if you don't already have one. I've seen 2 built motors go because of hydrolock.

There was actually an AEM bipass valve for sale in the Market place that if I remember was nearly brand new, that you could probably get for a good deal.. also surprised no one mentioned it yet but there is lots of info you can read about I believe they provided a few informative links when you registered! Enjoy the Z

There is no timing belt! the two front belts are what you have to worry about every 30k. its a 30 min job tops! You got a good deal, take care of her.

Watch out for any transmission grinding. Also put the stock intake on and get a plenum spacer.

Id say the stock intake with K&N drop in is the best.

thanks for the feedback!

I talked to my mechanic about the bypass valve and he said that I'm good in that department... also the belts seem to be brand new... looks like the broker i bought it from wasn't a shark haha!

I'm off to go check out the marketplace for some wheels!

Who builds an NA Z and then runs an AEM intake?
