New guy in Florida
hey folks, the names Jon and i just picked up a 07 auto Z a few months back and i was referred to this site by a friend of mine after asking of a place with good information. probably wont be extremely active but ill contribute where i can. As this is my first nissan, i will probably start out with a lot of questions, but i promise ill search first.
theres my z. like i said its auto, which is fine for me because its going to be just a daily and ive driven a manual for the last 4 years, im tired of it every day. plus for $12k and 32k miles i couldnt say no as i slammed my z3 (previous car) into an oak tree in the rain
going to keep it simple as far as mods go. i like magnaflow, ive had it on several other cars, some decent wheels, some low, and i do plan on s/c or turbo on this car, nothing too serious but just a little extra. and if possible a little work or tuning to the transmission. not real familiar with the car so i do not know why, but it seems in the higher revs right before it shifts, the power drops off teribly and then it shifts and its back. any ideas what that is? in my opinion it just feels like the high redline of this motor just isnt needed.
thats it, looking forward to meeting some of you.

welcome and congrats. look into a transgo valve body upgrade / shift kit. best mod available for autos! if you plan to go f/i with an auto be prepared to dump some money into upgrades for the tranny. good luck and happy modding!

Thanks! i will look into that. i am prepared to spend a little more with the tranny upgrades, i dont want it to crap out on me. but for the price i paid for the car i think im a little ahead of the came anyhow. if work is slow for me tomorrow, ill be lurking the forum trying to gather some information. Most of my mod experience is with bmw and old chevys so this is a whole new thing for me. so far i love the car though.

no, it belonged to a family friend of ours who bought it brand new. he passed about 8 months ago and his wife just needed it gone. she said she was aware she could get more for it but she said i could have it for that. she is in no need of money and thinks of me as a grandson so its like a family sale type thing. it is immaculate with the exception of a few of the black pieces of interior like around the door handles and the center dash compartment has some scratches

I did check out the transgo though as well as some videos. I think maybe even if I don't go FI it would sill be a good upgrade. I have some acquaintances at a couple shops. Ill talk to them and figure what it's gonna run me. I seem some videos of it chirping 2 and 3 gear. Reminds me of an old shortbed Chevy truck I had with a shift kit

Hahaha I wasn't trying to do anything lol. You wouldn't have liked the manual tranny in the Z coming from a manual in the E36 generation. It's completely different, I just put in a B&M short shifter though and RJM clutch bracket and now it's much better.
