Red face What year of Z?

Hello, I'm kinda a newbie here trying to purchase a Z as in about 2-3 months. I've been looking around, and I've gathered the following infos about Zs. Could you please evaluate them since I want to get the best year?

Year '03-'06 is the best for mod, why?
Year '06 has problem with its engine?

Gather more info and you'll have the answers yourself.

2-3 months is plenty of time to find all the answers.

No problem, I'm here to help.

Honestly though, engine choice is subjective and you will have people telling you to go both ways. I have a DE and couldn't be happier. From what I've heard, the HR is more expensive to mod but you get more HP/$ in terms of bolt-ons. The DE is relatively cheaper to modify (though it is still quite expensive).

I have heard about oil consumption in 2006, but I have also heard many people say their 2006 never had the issue.

It all depends on the individual car. Look over everything thoroughly regardless of year.

What are your goals for modifications? Bolt-on, FI, fun DD, insane power...?

Just some minor mods, mostly exterior you know, nothing power none of that since I don't want to kill my insurance rate... just yet lol.
So I don't think I shouldn't worry about the engine, yes?

But what I am worrying though, is that I'm going to buy used, so I was just wondering if any particular years have problems and I should def. avoid them.

So...

"Year '03-'06 is the best for mod, why?"

... was only referring to exterior modifications?

Someone said that here get '03-'06 for mods.

But you said you won't do any power mods. They were referring to the DE engines. So when you are saying mods, you are only talking about appearance mods.

2003 had transmission issues.

03-05 = 287 hp, DE
06 = 300 hp, DE rev-up
07-08 = 306 hp, HR

All of those figures are to the crank, not the wheels. I have an 06 and have never had oil consumption problems (knock on wood) and it has just under 70k miles on it.

If it falls under the 3yr/36K miles, then maybe. I don't think so for most people tho.

Get the newest Z with the lowest mileage that you can afford. If youn afford an HR, get that. And yeah, do a lot more research.
