Default 2005 350Z Handsfree

Hey Guys! I’ve just picked up a 350 and Was just wondering if anyone can awnser my question. I’ve got a hands free and call button on my steering wheel, am I able to use it with my phone/pair it with the stock bose head unit? Why is it there when If I can’t use it with the stock stereo? Would the buttons work with a aftermarket head unit/stereo? Thanks!

None of the 350Z models (Bose or Clarion headunits) came with Bluetooth, or other hands-free phone technology. The mid-model refresh did add a button on the left spoke of the steering wheel to adjust volume and station, but nothing else. Those buttons might work with an aftermarket headunit, but only if a conversion harness was used.

I've got hands-free Bluetooth phone buttons on my '08 Touring with Bose. Since I ripped out the entire Bose system shortly after I purchased the car, the buttons on the steering wheel are now just there for decoration. I believe that Bluetooth was offered on 07, 08 and 09, but it might just be 08 and 09 (Bose only).

I stand corrected. The 07-08 upgrades DID bring hands-free calling to the Touring model with BOSE. The OP should check their operator's manual for how to pair their phone if they retained the OEM BOSE headunit. I learn something everyday!

The Bluetooth controller isn't in the headunit; it's next to the main amp in the left rear of the car under all that wonderful plastic trim that surrounds the spare tire. They spread the Bose goodness all over the bloody car so it'd take forever to get everything stripped out. I knew from the day I drove the car off the lot that the Bose system would be the first thing to go.
