Default Nissan 350z headlight question

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if 2003 - 2005 headlight will mount on my 07 Nissan 350z. It will be great to inform me before I purchase. Thanks in advance

you will not get much positive feedback on this....you are reversing progress.

Sure they mount.

WHY are you considering this? Is it a cost issue? Have I got a deal for you then!! You can have my fully functional '03 housings in straight trade. They're just sitting in the boxes my '07 housings came in.

Get the drift?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the '03 - '05 halogen headlights will mount(bolt up) of course but the wire harness is different(8-pin connection as opposed to a 6-pin). So you'd have to make sure that it's a HID '03 - '05 headlight that you get... And get whatever headlights you want. If it's the early model Z headlights that you like, get the early model headlights then. It's your car, and you're no less of anything if you go that route.

I'm not saying the OP is anything less for wanting early headlights. Just trying to keep him from making a mistake. Light output of the early lights, while not BAD, per se, they just don't hold a candle to '06+ lights. <YSWIDT >

If cost is the issue, I suggest DEPO HID replacements. Still more expensive than earlies; but maintains lighting performance.

Not directed at you, bud.. Just toward the notion that ALL '03 - '05 headlights are inferior to the '06+, so I would've said that comment regardless. But if he gets the halogens, then yeah, he's downgrading; but the '03 to '05 HID(xenon) version is identical to the '06+ Xenon(hid) in candlepower and light intensity output.. Just not as puurty.

I can't agree with you there. Candlepower and light intensity numbers don't tell the entire story.

The '06 shutters and lenses are far superior - I never even considered the looks - the light output is "purer" (coloration is much whiter even though they have the same Kelvin rating as the earlier models), beam reach is farther and the cutoff is razor sharp. Seriously, I could've drawn a straight horizontal set of lines on the next door garage when I was aiming them.

And this is comparing my stock '03 HID to my stock '08 (my Niz). I won't even go into what my existing built lamps do....

Don't get me wrong, the early HIDs are better than most lamps out there. However, the Nissan engineers did an even better job for the 2006 (and beyond) model year.

So you guys have an idea I got a in a crash a few months back. So I'm fixing my Z little by little. Got most of the body work done. Now that I'm looking for headlights...07 and up are pretty expense and yes i know I'm down grading but my pockets ain't deep to be spending 500+ on headlights right now. So that's why I ask
