Default Boost

Hello guys, I am new to the forum and this is my second post.

The first thing I learned so far is to use the SEARCH button , I know. but it might be either me not searching correctly or simply not enough to gather enough info for a noob like me.

So to get right to it, I want to get 350 WHP out of my fresh new, bone stock, 350z roadster 05 non rev up. not more not less.
I've done a lot of searching around the forum and apparently, the best way to get to my goal is a single turbo kit since it is going to be my daily driver aswell.
However, I don't know if there is another "economical way" of getting to those numbers (beside NOS because in the part of the globe where I live, it is very hard to get it)
What mods need to be done in order to prepare for BOOST and not ruin my engine ?
And is this kit enough for the whole setup from beginning to end or am I missing some parts that are not in this kit to go from completely stock to boosted with everything up and running (like exhaust, tune, stronger internals, injectors...) ? (https://www.ebay.com/itm/TURBONETICS...-/151748052945)
Please don't flame me, I am new and know nothing obviously.
I am reaching out to all My350z gurus to jizz their knowledge on me

Thank you !

If you want 350 wheel at the most, a super charger is the better option.

Single turbo is better for the 400+ options. Same with most twin kits. Supercharger/pro charger kits usually max around 350whp out of the box. But have the ability to gain more with modification of pullies, belts and wheels.

As far as support parts, you will need a clutch if you ever plan on WOT.. My stock clutch was fine cruising and daily driving. But the first time I did a full WOT pull I roasted my clutch.

You’ll probably need larger injectors. 450-650cc range.

Probably a larger fuel pulp as well. 255/350lph or so.

Colder boost rated spark plugs. Other than that you just need the boost.

Thank you CK for your answer, no tune, exhaust needed to flow better or change in intake for optimal A/F ?
Also how much $$$ approximately am I looking at with a Vortech system once installed with supporting mods and labour so I can start saving up ?

If you go boosted yes you will absolutely need a tune.

Intake is eliminated with charge piping with the turbo kit. Exhaust is not needed especially under 500 horse power. But yes it will help. But if you’re capping at 350hp you won’t see any loss from using a stock one.

Intake and exhaust has nothing to do with your AFR. That is your tune and the amount of fuel calculated per air from your turbo/supercharger kit. Which is why you need a tune.

As far as price anywhere from $3,000-$5,000. NOT including labor and install. Every shop is different, so both which vortech kit you will need, and how much the labor will cost is research YOU will have to do.

Haven't done much FI reading on the VQ as I won't have a Z till this weekend. But I had an s2k for 4 years and ready a lot about FI option on that platform, and I'm sure some of the ideas will carry over.

If you're only looking for 350whp, I personally would lean towards a supercharger. Tends to be less stress on the engine, more linear power, more reliability, etc. Plus, they can sound straight badass. If you go the turbo rout, DO NOT cheap out on the tune. Can't speak specifically on the VQ, but coming from the s2k and EJ turbo Subaru worlds, a bad tune can cost you an engine pretty quick.

Any locals correct me if I'm wrong, but I would think some of these principals would fit.

Kit is missing injectors (550cc)

air filter

tune (go Utec as they already have a base Turbonetics tune)

Colder spark plugs(My stock plugs gave out after I tuned past 335tq and 295whp)

V-band gaskets(Don't trust those flanges to seal)

Probably will break a couple of those v-band clamps too.

Yup I broke 1 v band and 2 hose clamps on my boosted performance kit after like the 4th time taking off the kit to access stuff. Thread necks snapped right off after re tightening them.

Ordered a cheap 8 pack off amazon cause I know it’s ganna happen again.

Thank you guys for your feedback, will be looking into a SC, I like the idea of more linear power, I guess its much better for daily driving situations ! the turbonetics kit is cheaper but I guess the engine rebuild is going to cost aswell for 400 whp.
will start saving some cash !!
