OK, so my biggest hangup with painting the car is how I need to clean my paint booth (aka garage). So this weekend I finally finished my basement insulation project which has started to free up my garage space. I am going to be working on the garage from now on as I have the motivation to paint! Did a couple of minor things on the Z, including the Amp/Sub and a front wheel bearing. Also drilled out the plastic rivets on the rear speakers, no idea what i am going to store in here but it seemed like a waste to make it in-accessible.
No updates on the Z this week, but I am making slow progress on the paint booth (garage), but it has been HOT! Was really hoping to paint next weekend but looks like that might get pushed to the week after.
As someone who has painted a car in their garage I can truly endorse a carbon particulate respirator.
I should check the one I have. I know it is a 3M and wasn't the cheapest thing around. I wasn't really thinking about it, was just gonna toss that on and spray!
Not trying to be your mom but you might want a cheap paint suit. When I did mine any exposed skin felt like it was covered in glue, hair included. (Just trying to help a brother out!)

More like a polar bear, and funny you mention, I ordered my Tyvek suit a week ago. Apparently they are actually hard to find locally, didn't know people were wearing them for PPE. I think I have everything, except enough space for it all in the garage at once.
Spending about 2-3 hours a day after work trying to finish, down to just building my workbench in the back now as all the walls are now covered in plywood. Still debating in my head on a pegboard.

Quite sure you've given thought to portable floor-level and overhead lighting, bright LEDs. GL!
Yes, the overhead LEDs are supposed to come in on Friday.
The garage has been a crazy project, 2 hours every day after work then I had Some of Saturday to work on it. It finally feels like I have an adult garage, my tools in one spot (kind of) and way more organized than I was before. Only issue is that it is going to be a tight fit with the Z, front to back anyway, so I will probably pull as much as I can, paint that first then spray the rest of the car. Still have to do the rust repair and I really don't want to...
I think I saw your front bumper on FB marketplace up for sale? Whats going on!?
Yeah I saw that listing, I paid $580 shipped for my bumper, I guess he should have shopped around! Not sure if I like the splitter on the bottom of it.
New plan is to start my bodywork on Thursday after work, maybe paint this weekend!

Spent a 3 hours on the Z tonight, started disassembly for paint prep and 2 of those hours I spent on the hood. I bent back the corner as best as I could, filled in the low spots from bending it back and filled in what seemed like a hundred rock chips. I hit it with some self etching primer in the bare spots and got a little carried away spraying. Can't wait for more progress! Feels good to start this prep work.
No good news, turns out I am pretty allergic to the body filler dust and have had some serious pain/hives around my neck and collar bone. It has been pretty miserable.
On a another note, turns out if you email all the big wigs at Bendpak you get a refund issued that day. I sent a final complaint email last night after waiting 2 months for a refund and added all the executives I could find to the email. I got a refund, an email, and a phone call before 11 AM this morning so I should see that $1200 back in my account soon.
Found out that I am not allergic to body filler I just had some kind of bug bite my neck and shoulder about 15 times and it lasted a solid 2 and half weeks before a shirt wasn't rubbing on these bite marks to make it tolerable to work outside again. So once that was over I started on the rear rust and worked on it a an hour a day or so on and off, till I was finally happy with the repair. Started the paint on Saturday morning, about 4 coats on the roof and front bumper in black. I didn't have my gun set correctly Saturday and had to spend a few hours cleaning up the front bumper today after I sprayed 4 coats on the Hood, doors, rear quarters and hatch. Overall I am happy with it, I had a few runs, one really bad one that I am going to need to work on later. Tomorrow I spray the rear bumper, other half of the front, fenders, side skirts and door trim. I think on Tuesday I'll be putting her back together! Can't wait to get a shot of her fully painted and re-assembled. There is definitely a lot of orange peel but honestly I don't care too much and might ending doing a full sand and polish at some point. Turns out I needed to spend more time on the roof as I can see the low spots from removing the small rust spots I had up there, oh well you live and learn, and this car is never gonna be a show car!
Thanks guys, I think it helps that we all motivate each other when it comes to comments and update posts. I know I enjoy seeing other builds come along and that helps motivate me. Right now I am fighting a space issue trying to do all 8 pieces in a small area and I am not sure if I am going to get it all done today. Now I see I have a small reaction on a fender... Ugh.
