Default Neutral position switch help.

Just bought my first Z it’s an 03 manual and along with replacing the front end and adding exhaust i also am trying to fix the CEL which is for the neutral positions switch. I replaced the switch and the code is still there. Check the connector and it’s fine. Can’t check the rest of the harness because whoever fooled with the tranny before, routed it on top of the tranny. Been searching the net and can’t find anything helpful.

What exactly is the code?
Are you having any other symptoms?
Were there any symptoms that went away after you replaced the switch or that appeared?
Did you clear the code once the switch was replaced to see if it comes back again?

P1706. I think it’s idling kinda high. Around 1000 i believe. I’ll check that when i get home from work. Other then that it runs fine. Yes i cleared the code and it came right back on.

This isn't the same as your code, but I was getting a P0850 "Park/Neutral Switch Input Circuit" code along with a bunch of O2 sensor codes. After I replaced the blown O2 sensor fuse, all the codes cleared up, including the Park/Neutral switch code. Not sure if this will help you, but it seemed close enough to be worth mentioning.

Did you check all three fuse boxes/panels? The O2 sensor fuse and some other important ones were in the vertical fuse box tucked behind/beside the battery that you have to pull all the plastic trim stuff off to get to. I didn't even know there was one there until last weekend.

Wait, there’s 3? I only checked the two by the battery. Where’s the third?

I’m starting to think it may be a broken/pinched wire. Whoever had this transmission out before didn’t take the time to route the harness properly. It’s currently wedged in between the top of transmission and car. Pretty sure it’s supposed to be routed down the right side of tranny.
