Default Mixing tranny Fluids MT85 & OEM

I’ve got a brand new Tranny for my 350z HR 08 6 speed MT .. I’ve got 4 quarts of MT85 .. but not sure if I should just stick with an oem .. I live in SoCal so it’s warm most of the time and hear Redline is good in warm areas .. I’m getting the tranny installed on Monday along with a new clutch .. I was wondering if it is safe to mix Oem MTF with any of the redline products even if were to even it out with one quart ! Please help

I’m unclear as to why you would mix the two?

If it is indeed a brand new JK-41 from the factory, the fluid in it must be dumped and swapped for new fluid as what’s in it is considered “shipping fluid” for want of a better term. Suffice, not “long term, running fluid”.

As such, may as well use the MT-85 you have on hand. Trans only takes a bit over three qts as I recall. Either fluid will be fine.

It’s a brand new CD5 rebuilt tranny no fluids or anything, I’m thinking of mixing them because I’m reading good things and “okay” things about them meaning it’s good for DD or preferred over redline .. either way I don’t plan on DDing the car mostly weekend use or something..

CD5? Oh, I see the confusion.... CD5 on the outside of the case is the case type. JK41 lives inside a CD5 external case. As on the case of my '08 Niz...

So it's a rebuilt trans so no fluid to start. Gottit. In any event, can't see any benefit in mixing the fluids. Probably no harm but no real point. Sounds like someone put in some MT85 to top off the box and because the trans didn't blow up, posted how "good" it was on social media and it became a "fact". Hahahaha.... You have the MT85, just use it straight.

yes haha .. and my tranny is “jk41” as well .. looks like I’m going to stick with the redline then .. I’m trusting it and felt like I’ve read enough .. the company that I bought it from told me to put engine oil in it 10-30? I was kinda iffy about it and had me thinking what the hell is this guy talking about, but also read that u can also put engine oil in it and kinda not even notice ... . And about RLMT85, I have read more good about it than bad honestly and from my point of view, judging the OEM trans fluid reviews people seem to be okay with it but don’t talk about it like the others with redline do .. and thanks for replying my dude ! I’m reading forums from 2014 and under got me thinking no one even talks about these things anymore lol glad I signed up for this !

Hard to believe that such BAD advice like this is EVER given. Motor oil and MT-85 have little in common with their additive packages and that is some of the worst advice I've heard from a supplier. I've used MT85 in both my street and race Zs, and it's been great in both applications.

yea same.. couldn’t agree more and have never heard of such a thing, it kind of threw me off when he mentioned that to me but .. they’re the ones who rebuilt the tranny for me .. it’s super clean and ready to be installed but was just hella thrown off by that advice,— any way I’m hoping the MT 85 does well this upcoming week ! I’m looking forward too it honestly .. anybody else feel free to share your thought please ..
