Default Not New, But New Again Owner

Hello All,

Back again in the Nissan family had 300ZX Convertible and a 350Z Roadster back in the day and now back again with a 2004 350z Touring Roadster with 124K miles on it. I'm not a modster, I tend to prefer close to stock with some cosmetics changes here and there. Since purchasing the vehicle, I did have to have some transmission and front suspension work done. Engine seems strong, convertible top works, AC work, heated seats work and all the various buttons. The only thing I have to do right now is some troubleshooting\research on having a "SOLID" Airbag(SRS) light and not the blinking light on the instrument panel.

Front Wheel Size: 19x9
Rear Wheel Size: 19x10

Rear offset: +30mm

As far as the SRS light, in the event you do not have a CONSULT-II (which I'm sure hardly any of us do), you can enter diagnostic mode manually by following a specific sequence involving turning the key from OFF to ON. You can then count the number of times the light flashes and the time intervals which should help point you in the right direction. Attached is the SRS section of the FSM. Self-diagnostic procedure begins on page 20.

Do you know whether the airbag has been deployed in the past? It could be something as simple as that.

Years ago, I had the SRS light randomly appear after I did a thorough interior cleaning which involved vacuuming under the seats. It turned out to just be a loose connection for one of the sensors under there.

Interesting how may older Z33 owners are returning to the model. While I'm happy I kept my pre-order '03 track model, it's hard to imagine ever selling it in the first place.

dkmura - I have always been a "Z" fan and have circulated through a few different cars over the years. Since I do have my motorcycle licenses and seen too many friends get injured on them, my next best option to feel the air were cars with T-Tops or convertible.
1. 1985 - 300ZX T-Tops
2. 1989 = Chevy Cav Z24 Convertible
3. 2001 - Mit Eclipse Snyder Convertible
4. 1996 - 300zx Convertible
5. 2004 - 350Z convertible
6. 2010 - G37 Convertible
7. 2012 - Audi S5 convertible
Now back to the 2004 350z Convertible......LOL

Cool- as a former bike rider I understand completely. But living in Colorado makes having a coupe more practical. Since you've had so many 'verts, I wonder how the Z33R fits into your overall rankings?

HeelTilIDie,
Thanks, I check doesn't appear the bags were deployed and I checked the wires under both seats.

UPDATE - To date no one has road in the passenger seat and NEVER used the seat belt, well I go to use the seat belt and I cant moved the seat belt at all it wont move or extend!!! So checked online and it appears I have a BAD passenger side seat belt. If you shake it, it rattles like crazy which indicates that the retrack clips are broken because the ball bearings are not held in place anymore. Which could be why the SRS indicator light is on and SOLID. So ordered a passenger seat belt, should be here in a couple of days.

Thanks everyone!

DKmura- Great question as the earlier cars (1 thru 3) were my youngers years, which was more about looking cool!! LOLO They were all fun actually, as you know in Colorado \ Illinois the summers are short so having the top down was great......generally loved my Z's.

The G37 convertible was nice more luxury of course, nice ride and could still drive in the winter on non snow days. The Audi was very nice and sporty, just didn't like the maintenance on it, but it was a good car, I know Audi gets a bad wrap from time to time but I didn't have many issues at all.

Then I've had a gap period with no sports\convertibles cars for at least 5 years. I started looking again at the 350z\G37 convertibles and notice the G37 prices seemed high and the 350z stock or close to it, starting to get higher so decided to grab one before the prices get too get crazy.

I would say all in all staying in the Nissan\Infiniti family has been good, I do have a Infiniti FX35 for the winters.
