I just bought a black Nismo and I am going in tommorow to sign all the paperwork. I live in MA (currently lots of snow and salt on the roads) and this is going to be my daily driver so I am most likely going to get that 3M clear cover for the front bumper, mirrors, etc... My question is... Does anyone currently have this on their car now, if so is it worth the $600 plus? The dealership also offers that protection coating for the paint and the interior. Seems like just an extra clear coat to me, but Im thinking of telling them I will do it if they can do both the 3M tape and paint protection for $1000 together. If anyone knows about this please let me know what you think.

P.S. All the dealers seem to be just trying to get rid of the 07s I got the car for 35,200 before destiation fees etc. From my barrage of phone calls to about 15 dealers it seems like all the dealers are trying to sell the same vehicles (6 black ones left in the states, so im told). They all B/S saying its so rares and all that crap. Just tell them you have another offer and ask if they can to better. Just throwing in my 2 cents if anyone is thinking of buying. I hope I can save you some of the hassel I went through. Everyone on this site knows 10X more than any dealer. Also thanks to everyone who posts on this site you have been a lot of help to me in my decision.

Thanks I must have missed the link before, seems like its defnitely worth it in the northeast. Anyone know/have experience with this paint protection coating. Dealer said they spray the interior as well, which makes it water/spill repellent. (or are they taking my wallet for a ride?)

Speaking of water it just snowed another 6 in. in Boston today! Should be fun getting this thing into my garage on Saturday especially since im a noob with a stick

By the way when I went to put down my deposit I found Nissan has $1000 rebate on the Nismo now just FYI

 

In my experience, typically the paint and interior protection package is just another way for the dealer to get more money out of you.
Re. the paint protection I'm not sure if you're referring to something they spray on the paint to "protect it" or the 3M clear bra. These are two totally separate things. For paint protection I keep my car Zainoed up. Clear bra is basically a plastic/vinyl film appield to the front of your car. There are a lot of fans of it here. $6-800 seems to be the going price for Clear bra.
If you decide to go with the clear bra I would suggest you drive your car directly to the clear bra installer before your car picks up any rock chips.

Yes you are correct zanoed is or something like it is a spray on paint protectant they offer and the 3m tape is the clear bra. They are 2 different things. You can get both put on the car. The 3M is a definite for me now just trying to decide if the zanoed is worth putting on as well.

As for the Rebate, when i went to put down my deposit the dealer listed the sell price as 36,200 and then under was (1000) rebate bringing me to 35,200. (this is all before the deposit) They salesman said that they wrote it like that because they just had to plug the rebate Nissan was offering. My guess is that they are doing it because the 08's are comming out soon.

For all I know it could be dealer word vomit to get them down to the the 35,200. who knows. Ill ask tommorow when I go into sign the papers and figure out what the situation is.

 

Thinking of going with 35% tint on a Black Nismo. I think 35% is pushing the legal limit on the front, will it still look very dark paired with the dark interior with the Nismo? If not I will probably just go with 25 -30% and roll down my windows for inspection

 

hey if you get the paint protection please let me know. I would love to see how this looks. And yes driving in the snow is real fun in the Nismo. I think I will invest in some snow tires next. Nice to see another Nismo in the Boston area. ;-)

 

A month ago, I had my Black NISMO tinted: limo tint (5%) on the back and two small rear windows and 20% on D/P doors. Looks awesome and is plenty dark...too dark at night really but I rarely drive it (especially at night). If 35% is legal in your state, it should be dark enough if you can limo the rears like I did.

 

I got it. Its a 500 # gotta run and double check. Definitly w/o question perfectly acceptable as a daily driver. Kills me to see it get dirty with all this crap weather we have in MA, but so far that front lip clears everyting and the their is more than usual road noise (not overwhelming by anymeans), but other than that everying is extreamly livable with.

The dealer gave me the 6 spacers he took out. When I got it service was closed so I couldn't jack it up, but I assume that their is no more than 3 spacers on each side. If anyone found anything different let me know.

Its really too early to tell if the paint protection paired with the 3M tape is working. I was a little pissed because the dealer put the 3M mask on before the "touch of class" (paint protection). So the areas under the tape are not glossed. Another thing is that the 3M mask has some pretty big gaps around the fenders. Is this the norm?
