It's not envy, it's the fact that he mentioned it that made him a target for some opinions from some old farts around here.

Like I mentioned earlier, I had a used American car with a 350ci engine. I drove that car hard but I also treated it well. I was also aware of people and cars around me and didn't want to do anything wrong.

When they first came out I got a brand new '03 my insurance wasn't bad at all. Now that any 16 can buy a used '03 and they've been steady destroying them MY insurance is a lot higher.
Exactly. For some reason, I think my insurance has increased and I'm supposed to be getting all kinds of discounts.

Problem is that those mistakes are costly and at the expense of others. I don't want someone who thinks they know how to drive practicing their skills in a high powered car, or any car for that matter.

This is my first post on this forum. Only reason for joining was to add to this thread. My-o-my how there are a tremendous number of E-Thugs on here...because confrontations in real life are just scary.

Now then...some of you cannot understand that a teenager or someone in their early 20's can work hard and earn money to purchase cars, homes, etc, then you need to get a serious clue. Just becuase you were unable to achieve that, do not assume no one else could. Alex works hard for HIS money. Overtime, etc.

I have another close car friend that purchased EVERYTHING he owns with money HE earned. Nothing handed to him by anyone. He purchased an NSX when a teen. He still has it and a 2001 Lambo Diablo, Motorcycle, 2 work trucks, van, shifter cart, just purchased a 5 bedroom house in a nice area, owns his own company that he started and he is currently 24 years old. He drives and drives well.

Point is, don't go trashing someone because of their age if you are clueless to the circumstances. Same goes for correcting spelling. English is not Alex's first language, so give it a rest. He's a heck of a great guy that any of you would be proud to know...assuming you actually tried to get to know him.

I really liked the guy that questioned it raining in Indiana. I believe he was from Calif based on the signature. Pretty bright there.

Onto the accident...

A month ago, Indiana had a very bad storm. It was coming down so hard it was like driving 5mph through a waterfall. Hide in the basement bad. That is when the first accident occured. Hydroplanning. I have personally been driving Z's since the 1978 280Z and my second Z just turned 25. The conditions that night could have taken out anyone.

Saturday morning, we had heavy rains again in Indianapolis. The traffic circle where the accident happened was wet, had visible oil, the storm drain was clogged and water was pooling. Also, with all the landscaping done, you cannot see the otherside of the traffic circle until you round it. The city thought that would prevent people from trying to drive straight across the circle. A couple of guys tried and died.

I was not there when the accident happened, so I can only speak to what I saw after the fact. I did receive the call from other Z friends and was at the ER when Alex was released. So for all of you saying this never happened, sorry, but you are WRONG.

Alex was taken from the accident scene in an ambulance and stayed at the ER for some 5 hours. The car was towed elsewhere. Alex did not have a camera and was more concenred with his health and the health of the other driver. I personally drove to the towing yard and took pictures. The car is totaled. So for those of you that cannot believe something actually happened without seeing it, here are a couple of shots.

Geeze...I'm really embarrassed by the attitudes you people show fellow Z'ers. That's really sad.

First you don't believe the accident happened and need pics.

Then you don't believe it rains in Indiana.

Now you don't believe young guys can bust their butts and put all of their salary into the cars that they love.

Pics have been posted, other Indy residents have verified the rains, do we need to get bank stmts or tax returns to verify money made now???

Move on.......

I think you need to move on. Registering to defend someone and think you can convince us otherwise is laughable.

I read your 'book' of a post. At least it was well thought out. However, here we go again accusing all of us of being envious. The more I think about, the more I understand how a teenager CAN afford the luxury of a new sports car.

1. Drug dealer
2. Won the lotto
3. Dad bought it
4. Drug smuggler
5. Never went to school and worked his whole life
6. Pimp or man-*****
7. Stole it
8. Made a deal with....

I don't know how anyone in HS can juggle school, get decent grades, get enough sleep, have a social life, AND work so much that they make the money to pay for a $40k car. Few part time jobs can meet those requirements. If that were the case, everyone would be able to buy all the mods they could get their hands on if their jobs paid that much.

So here's the deal: Don't do us any favors and try to school us on the facts of life. You will get owned, and you will most likely get banned.

Your friends still don't get it. You can tell us all you want about how hard you worked for your toys, but you still don't appreciate what you have and all you want to do is show off. Why else does a 19 year old need a Nismo Z?

So in other words “driving too fast for conditions.” Not exactly surprising or difficult to believe for a 19 year old.

1. Thinking I can "convince" a group of e-thugs is not in my vocabulary. A mind must be open in order to accept new thoughts.
2. Please reread the post. At no point did I ever say anyone here was envious. You choose to utilize that word. What would Freud say about that? I simply made a point that there are young people that go out, work hard and CAN afford to buy whatever they want. not to burst a bubble here, but $40k is NOT an expensive car. Sorry, but its not. Just like not all young people work their butts off to achieve their goals. I will agree with you that most young people are clueless. Just please be aware that there are expections. That is all I was pointing out.
3. Whoever said this "kid" paid $40k for his Nismo Z. He didn't. he negotiated a heck of a deal. Maybe the "kid" was better at negotiating than you? Ouch, that hurts the pride, huh?
4. He's out of high school. Most people graduate at 17-18. Get out, work hard, don't spend your money partying and you can save a great deal.
5. Why does a 19 year old need a NISMO? Are you serious? Why does a 50 year old need a NISMO? Pretty darn simple there...they WANT it and can AFFORD it. I guess I missed the section in the Blue Book that said you had to be a specific age to own specific cars. I wonder if eBay screens for that?
6. As for me, I'm a middle aged adult and have been into Z's for 30 years. How about you there? I'm guessing your first was the 350Z?

Simple point of my "book" was to fill in some of the blanks that people requested as proof that the whole mess happened. I did that.

BTW...has anyone noticed that Alex came here asking for opinions and guidance on possible problems and this turned into a flamefest? Only a couple of people stepped up to offer constructive criticism. The most helpful was someone discussing corner braking. That was an intelligent post.

Good for all of you!

Relevant by showing other young people can afford "expensive" things. As an example, very relevant.

Nonsense

+1 to SmoothZ's post

I deleted all that you said cause you said nothing...

I was 24 when I brought mines, yes mines, and I brought it out of Bremerton, Washington. It rains there like noones business. I have hydroplanned, yet I saw it coming. It's like braking, the faster you are going the longer it takes to brake. That goes with lost of traction on any surface, going over oil/water is just like going faster takes time for the car to regain traction. With that said being a NISMO/any sports car driver those things are to be known. The thing is most drivers aren't ready for the kickback/gaining of traction = accidents.

So what happen was........

Anyways I was making a turn when I lost traction over water, and oil which caused me to hydroplane. If you look at my pics my friend/might be me posted you will see that if I was going as slow as I claimed that the results wouldn't have been that severe. Just look at the pictures I had to be flying in bad weather...

Not my words, but yours. I simply stated the facts that I had seen, nothing more. Please be clear when you quote so as not to mislead.

Didn't you comment on being grammar police etc in your "first post here"? I believe you did.

BTW, I am not an insurance adjuster or anything, but I am pretty damn sure that accident was NOT at 20 mph like the OP claimed...unless he hit something head on that was also moving. If that is the case I am pretty sure it is the OPs fault. However, he never gave any details as to what happened, just wanted us to tell him what went wrong so he didn't have to admit to being stupid.

Yes, I joined my350z to add additional information to a thread gone out of control. I heard this thread was going and was very shocked to find how people were responding to a tragic situation. I personally find the majority of responses to be ill thought out and vicious in content. It took some time for the account to be activated, otherwise you would have had the requested pictures and added information sooner.

I do not consider myself a hard a$$ in anyway. I do not kick people when they are down and out. I personally find the lack of community that is visible in this thread to NOT be remotely positive to the Z community in anyway. This saddens me.

I sincerely hope this group will be so gracious when the next one of you wrecks your Z...somehow I think not.
