At least you're OK. Tough lesson but at least it's now learnt. We've all had our share of these, I'm sure....I know I have.

I promise, Alex and I are two very different people. I do know him and like the guy. I would think you could tell the difference in posts, but then again, some of you probably still wonder if the moon landing really happened, or was it all on a Hollywood stage.

I normally hang out on the Z forums that deal with the older Z's, and appreciate the heritage. For those of you that are clueless, 280ZXT is an actual Z produced by Nissan 1981-1983 and badged as Datsun. I have heard from others that this is NOT a friendly forum, thus avoided it until now. FYI...still kicking around adding a 350Z or G37 to the stable. Actually working on a barn find of a 1st gen for a track car.

Am I clown? Folks that know me, know I have a wicked sense of humor. But I do not think that totaling a Z, or any other marque, should be the source of amusement for people.

As I have mentioned before, I was NOT at the scene of the accident when it occured, therefore I will NOT comment on what may or may not have happened as that would be irresponsible and misleading. Was Alex going 15 or 500MPH? I cannot say. I was not there. Nor were any of you. Period. If you weren't there, your opinions are strictly that...opinions and we all know that those are like a-holes....we all have them.

Frankly, time to get off the guys back. Me? I could care less what you minions think of me.
I'm 30, not 19.

What are you? His dad?

Buy your kid a new car that he can wreck, instead of being a parent.

I read your 'book' of a post. At least it was well thought out. However, here we go again accusing all of us of being envious. The more I think about, the more I understand how a teenager CAN afford the luxury of a new sports car.

1. Drug dealer
2. Won the lotto
3. Dad bought it
4. Drug smuggler
5. Never went to school and worked his whole life
6. Pimp or man-*****
7. Stole it
8. Made a deal with....

I don't know how anyone in HS can juggle school, get decent grades, get enough sleep, have a social life, AND work so much that they make the money to pay for a $40k car. Few part time jobs can meet those requirements. If that were the case, everyone would be able to buy all the mods they could get their hands on if their jobs paid that much.

So here's the deal: Don't do us any favors and try to school us on the facts of life. You will get owned, and you will most likely get banned.

Your friends still don't get it. You can tell us all you want about how hard you worked for your toys, but you still don't appreciate what you have and all you want to do is show off. Why else does a 19 year old need a Nismo Z?
Damn dude, don't you think that's a bit harsh there? I know most high school kid are just a bunch of pr_cks that like to show off, but I'm sure there are some that is decent.

Anyway, the kid is 19 so I think he just started college or may be just get a full-time job...so making money shouldn't be a problem. With that money he might just want a nice sport car, like we all do, to drive around. Although it attract attention, but he might just like the look of a Z. I'm sure most of us here bought our Z because we love cars and Z is a pretty decent sport car, we didn't really buy it to show off. So, may be this kid is not so bad, yeah?

2. Please reread the post. At no point did I ever say anyone here was envious. You choose to utilize that word. What would Freud say about that? I simply made a point that there are young people that go out, work hard and CAN afford to buy whatever they want. not to burst a bubble here, but $40k is NOT an expensive car. Sorry, but its not. Just like not all young people work their butts off to achieve their goals. I will agree with you that most young people are clueless. Just please be aware that there are expections. That is all I was pointing out.
3. Whoever said this "kid" paid $40k for his Nismo Z. He didn't. he negotiated a heck of a deal. Maybe the "kid" was better at negotiating than you? Ouch, that hurts the pride, huh?
4. He's out of high school. Most people graduate at 17-18. Get out, work hard, don't spend your money partying and you can save a great deal.
5. Why does a 19 year old need a NISMO? Are you serious? Why does a 50 year old need a NISMO? Pretty darn simple there...they WANT it and can AFFORD it. I guess I missed the section in the Blue Book that said you had to be a specific age to own specific cars. I wonder if eBay screens for that?
6. As for me, I'm a middle aged adult and have been into Z's for 30 years. How about you there? I'm guessing your first was the 350Z?

Simple point of my "book" was to fill in some of the blanks that people requested as proof that the whole mess happened. I did that.

BTW...has anyone noticed that Alex came here asking for opinions and guidance on possible problems and this turned into a flamefest? Only a couple of people stepped up to offer constructive criticism. The most helpful was someone discussing corner braking. That was an intelligent post.

Good for all of you!
Oh, look! I found your post that I was referring to and quoted your paragraph, which basically called us envious.

Now then...some of you cannot understand that a teenager or someone in their early 20's can work hard and earn money to purchase cars, homes, etc, then you need to get a serious clue. Just becuase you were unable to achieve that, do not assume no one else could. Alex works hard for HIS money. Overtime, etc.
Actually, everyone has a different reason to own a Z. I seriously doubt a 19 year old knows about the history of the Datsun and appreciates it like a 50 year old who has several Z's or grew up with them throughout the decades of generations.

Ironically, you're just like the rest of us by posting and accusing us of being non-supportive. I'd like to think that most of us do feel the pain if we were in some kind of accident, especially if we were driving responsibly and had our wits about us or if another car hit us.

How mature of you. Then again, we're all pots calling the kettle black.

Maybe a bit harsh, but I meant it. I know there are 'kids' out there that are decent. I know that some are hard workers and do well in school, sports, or whatever they like to get involved with. However, I don't think they go out and buy a $40k sports car just out of high school unless they made $40k in a summer job.

Seriously, I thought I knew everything and was invincible at the age of 19. I was wrong about some things....

So... to sum things up.

"Baller" kid bought his Nismo Z at the age of 19 with no financial help.

"Baller" experienced one accident while driving in a straight line from a stop light where he estimates that he hydroplaned at 20 mph, lost control of the rear, and smashed into an object ruining his wheels and control arms. This is obviously the tires fault for not having traction as he burried his foot in the accelerator.

"Baller" experienced a second accident in a round-about where he was going only 30 mph and hit an oil-slick which immidiately caused him to lose control of the car and smash into an SUV. Again, we can see the tires are the reason for the accidents in both posts. Not the driving skills of the individual

"Baller" can also take sharp turns at 80 mph after fresh rain, further proving the fact that he is a moron and can't drive.

Lesson: Don't drive like an a$$. If it rains, slow down, rev-match, and stop trying to drag race the Corolla next to you at the stop light.

This whole thread is now out of control to the point where Mods have to decide is there any relevant info pertaining to this topic being used in a constructive manner????

I have to agree with 280zxt he was kind enough to include the photo's! Move on. Driver error or not who cares? It was an accident! I know I have had a couple stupid accidents where yes Dad had to pick me up at the ER. Lucky for me never a scratch on me. Also, what relevance is it who bought the F'in CAR? Its his car, he owns it, he drives it, its his to use as he pleases as long as it conforms to state laws. If it doesn't well then oh well........ Thats why tax payer dollars employ the 5-0

Get over it people. You sound retarded. I'm 30 and own a 60ft yacht, a Nismo, a new pickup, a fleet of 8 jet ski's and several boats. I choose to rent my place, never been married, have no kids and this is my lifestyle. You want to pick it apart for your own amusement then so F'in be it.. I don't give a flying F*^# Really.. Grow up..!!!!

If any of you have driven with whack alignment, driving in a straight line can be treacherous. So that may help explain the loss of control to some extent. However, I can tell you that YOU HAVE TO BE ACCELERATING OR CHANGING DIRECTION to lose control in this situation - it's simple physics. When I was road testing my FI setup, the alignment was off and it was pretty scary trying to go straight with any kind of throttle. You should've been able to tell the alignment was off though and gotten it looked at... Live and learn. Next time don't try to drift around roundabouts...

I seriously almost ate an entire box of Triscuits reading this thread... (popcorn alternative)

Response to the OP:

I read your story, there was some detail missing in there, probably because it points toward drivers error. If your taking corners at 80 mph on roads with fresh rain, you obviously do not know the limits of your car, or any car for that matter. Or maybe you dont understand traction vs rain.
FYI, when rain first falls on the roads, it mixes with dirt, oil, antifreeze, blood, roadkill, snot and anything else that is on the road, or may have dried up on the road. This creates a slime on the road surface. After the rain has been coming down for a while, some of this is washed away and traction is a LITTLE better.
Aside from that, a wet road offers much less friction because the little divits, cracks etc are filled up with water, and at high speeds, the water cannot move out of the way fast enough, creating a "smooth" surface. This is called hydroplaning. Hydroplaning alone can cause accidents. If you have fresh rain, now you have to deal with slime on the road, plus the possibility of hydroplaning....doesn't sound like the ideal time to toss the Z around some twisties at 80mph...does it?

Maybe this is a lesson to you. Often time its a matter of perspective. Just think, you could have had a "mystery slide out" going 80 around a curve...

you LIVE, you learn, glad your ok.

I may be a little defensive in reading his posts and reacting as I am. However, I have had many close calls, and one bad accident, all that involved individuals that were not paying attention or were driving much to fast for the conditions of the road.

The OP was in two different accidents and I am pretty sure it's obvious the tires can't be to blame as he thought may have been the case. It was his driving that caused the accidents.

I have no sympathy for someone (regardless of age) that has had multiple accidents in such a short time and has made comments such as this "might be ... but i can handle that car going 80 during fresh rain without a problem in sharp curves. So if i couldn't do that i would agree with u and take the blaim for being a retard."

Not only is he risking his life driving like an idiot but other innocent drivers on the road.

Now if he gets into his next car and has learned from the mistakes he made in the Z than good for him...and all others driving around him.
