It was a head-on with an SUV. As with any head-on, you need to add the speeds together to get a real idea of the impact speed. e.g two vehicles A & B. A is moving at 30MPH, B is moving at 50MPH. 30+50=80MPH impact. Speed differentials are bad for impacts. Again, that is only an example. Let me repeat...example.

I agree..being a paramedic for 15 years has made a quite a realist. It has also made me a believer that people will only tell you what they want you to know.

280zx, everything that everyone has said put aside, Do you truly believe that this young man was going only 20mph, looking at that damage?? He said that he remembered going into the round about and then his car was in parts..with that happening in a split second, how did he know the exact speed he was traveling?

280ZXT..I am not sure why you are shocked about how this thread has gone. A 19 year old wrecked a NISMO Z, one of 1500. I'd say at least 50% of the threads on this forum referring to wrecked Z's are from kids under 20 years old. Every single thread turns into a flame fest, unless it really wasn't the member's fault (provided they can prove that). Otherwise, its just opening a can of worms starting a thread like this.

I promise, Alex and I are two very different people. I do know him and like the guy. I would think you could tell the difference in posts, but then again, some of you probably still wonder if the moon landing really happened, or was it all on a Hollywood stage.

I normally hang out on the Z forums that deal with the older Z's, and appreciate the heritage. For those of you that are clueless, 280ZXT is an actual Z produced by Nissan 1981-1983 and badged as Datsun. I have heard from others that this is NOT a friendly forum, thus avoided it until now. FYI...still kicking around adding a 350Z or G37 to the stable. Actually working on a barn find of a 1st gen for a track car.

Am I clown? Folks that know me, know I have a wicked sense of humor. But I do not think that totaling a Z, or any other marque, should be the source of amusement for people.

I do not know. If I had to guess, and this is strictly a guess, I would say the Z received the citation since it ended up in the oncoming lane. Again, strictly a guess and no facts to back it up.
