Grinding noises mean metal on metal. Check to make sure nothing is touching the disc (something hanging loose). Sometimes, especially in rear brakes, small objects (rocks) can get stuck in the braking system. Do a thorough check, and if you can't find anything take it a professional.

If it's something like a small rock, it should be easily visible as it will make a small etching into your rotor during braking.

Every once in a while i get some squeeking from my brakes, and it only has 7,000 miles on it.

+1 on checking for a rock or something in the breaks. I find that every single freakin pebble gets stuck in my wheels and stays there untill i pick them out...

I had the same problem. Seems to squeak just when coming to a slow stop. Didn't worry about it much since must of my driving isn't stop and go, but it was a little annoying. However it seems to have gone away for the most part now. I noticed it since I got the car until at least about 5000. Now it has about 12,000. There's stuff in these forums about the regular Z's having issue with the e-brake being the cause of the squeak in the rears, but I never researched this for the Nismo's. Hope you find an answer, or just wait a few thousand miles

I just reread your post and you said "grinding." My issue was more like a squeak like when your pads are wearing down. Forget what I wrote.

I get the squeeks from time to time as well.
I've got a little over 13k on the odometer.
