Default New Nismo owner..

Well it is official as of Friday ... I am the new owner of a 2008 Silver 350z Nismo . I have yet to take delivery though.. being shipped from the dealer some time next week so my hope is by the weekend..fingers crossed.

That being said I wanted to ask a few things from the drivers here about any
normal rattles and squeaks I can expect. I seem to remember way back about some of rear interior panels making noises? And also something about a noisy clutch "whine" ?? I could be totally off as I am going by memory. I expect somethings to make noise just want to make sure these are nothing new and or have there been fixes either through the dealer or home brewed.
Also any recalls by Nissan? I plan on making an appointment with my local Nissan dealer to do a multipoint inspection..
I hope I'm not being too vague..

Thanks again
Rich

Of course pics will follow and more details about the sale etc.

Nope.. not yet, very soon. Deal is done and I hope the car is on a trailer East Coast bound by Wednesday or Thursday. Hence the questions above..

I hear rattles to my left, right, front, and behind.. haha. But rattles like those change from car to car. I have speaking in the rear, but I think those are my shocks (I have yet to confirm).

Mine doesn't have any interior rattles or squeaks of note. The throwout bearing makes a terrible rattle and has since new, but even when nissan replaced the trans under warranty they wouldn't do anything about it, saying it is normal. It hasn't gotten any worse and i've got used to it over the last 3 years. Other than that the car is a blast.

Stock brake pads suck, replace them with something decent if you like to drive the car hard. Enjoy!

And also something about a noisy clutch "whine" ??
I haven't heard any whine, but maybe you mean clutch chatter?

Check the front splitter where there's a plastic air guide that directs air flow. The tolerance between the air guide and the splitter can be very tight and that causes the plastic to rub and cause a crack on the splitter.

My alignment was also way off when I first got the car so you might check that out.

There's also the HR concentric slave cylinder issue when you replace the clutch with something non OEM. Not sure if many have had this problem with an OEM clutch though.

And recently I was in getting some rattles fixed and was told there was a service bulletin on the hatch not releasing when you try to open it. So far my dealer ship has replaced the opening mechanism, the bumpers and the opening struts are getting done this week.

Wait, there's a factory recall for the rear hatch not releasing all the way? I thought that was just something we were stuck with fixing using higher pressure rear hatch struts...

I was jus thinking the same thing. I know they acknowledge the issues with the 2 bumper/springs on the hatch itself but only on the 370z. This is news to me.

op.. Where in the Northeast you from?

The transmission does have some winding noise when you let off the clutch it is not noticable at all unless the doors open when you do it.

I don't get any interior noises but it wouldn't suprise me if I did as they used very cheap material for the interior (i also listen to my music loud so I just might have neven noticed it).

A service bulletin is not a recall. However, in my case all work will be done under my original warranty.

Thank you. I will no doubt. Sadly I am at the mercy of the dealer to deliver
her. I thought I might be this week, but no dice. So my hopes are for next week in time for next weekend. .

Actually today is really the first day that I am feeling "antsy" about getting her..
I mean hey I paid for it, so I guess I want it. lol.. But fingers crossed I hope
it will be sometime next week. I can't "really" complain as the dealer is picking up the tab for delivery. Either way it is going to happen . Plus I want to drive it tax free with the paper plate, hehe.

Rich.

EDIT/UPDATE... On chance I emailed the salesman today asking if he had a hint as to when the car might be picked up.. and according to the reply the car was supposed to be picked up yesterday... and that it might be picked up today. Well 10mins after sending my reply saying that I hope it gets picked up today my phone rings and the car was in fact picked up and is now NY bound . I chatted with the truck driver and it will be here tomorrow..which wow that is fast. The car is showroom mint and hope it stays that way for the trip. I know the driver has to unload it once on his way out here. I have been assured he will be uber careful while unloading & reloading das car. I seriously doubt I will sleep much tonight ha.. Now to find that automatic front license plate bracket thread..hehe..
