Does my car deserve a Nismo badge?
Right, but the end result is the same, it means a faster car. Further, I lost lots of rotating mass. Each Nismo rim weighs about 9-10 lbs more per rim than my Track rims. When I had the original 20 inch super heavy rims on, the car was much more sluggish. Also, my brake rotors are slightly smaller than the Brembo rotors which is an additional reduction in rotating mass. Finally, the much lighter rims and brake rotors allow for less unsprung weight which improves handling.
I appreciate the feedback. Clearly, you dont have the accurate facts. In addition to the complete oem body kit, I have the nismo interior....door panels, seats, and steering wheel...and I will be improving the suspension too. True, the engine is down on horsepower, but the much lighter wheels narrow the gap a little. Also true is the convertible is not the best platform for performance. However, Nismo announced the 370z nismo convertible concept recently so Nismo seems to believe that there is a place for a higher performing sports car thats a ragtop.
I honestly believe you missed the entire point of the project. Even though Nissan motorsports did not produce a nismo 350 z convertible, if they had, it would be similar to my car except the seam welding and frame dampeners. It kind of sounds like you like to call people ricer with little of no basis for it. Again, I do appreciate the feedback.

Rice = Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement. I'd say to this point that is exactly what you have shown us, you are trying desperately to make you car look faster while doing nothing to make it faster. It's your car do what you will with it just understand that those who know better will think less of it. I'm sure the 17 year old will think it's really really cool.
If Nissan makes a Nismo 370 convertible you can bet it will include more than a body kit and interior.
Apparently I do. You have a body kit, and have done nothing as yet to improve the cars performance. If you think the interior parts swap has any impact on performance you are beyond help. If you want to make a Nismo convertible clone you need the bigger wheels, brakes, stiffer suspension and anything you can do to stiffen your floppy topless chassis. So far all you've done is put lipstick on a floppy pig.

Personally I wouldn't simply because every time someone says to me "I didn't know they made a nismo version of the roadster" I'd have to exhale softly in shame, and then explain that they actually didn't and I put the nismo badge on there myself.
Same thing with those carbon fiber looking vinyl wraps. I don't know how those people handle the inquiries about them. The first time someone were to ask me "Is this wet or dry carbon fiber?" or "Does it weigh significantly less?" I'd be overwhelmed with shame and embarassment. I guess some people just have the cojones to stand up tall, look them directly in the eye and and either blatantly lie or proudly exclaim "It's neither wet nor dry carbon fiber! It's merely a vinyl wrap!"

Included in my plan are performance upgrades which I havent done yet since I was prepping and painting the body kit and acquiring the interior bits. I have a K & N air filter and I plan on getting a plenum spacer, and exhaust parts. I want to keep the car fairly quiet (my Maxima is plenty loud) so Im thinking Y pipe and the straight pipe to the muffler. I also plan an ECU reflash. I figure that is good for 10-15 hp.
My brakes are upgraded to the 06 brakes, which are actually much larger than the 03-05 brakes. I have very high temperature brake fluid and plan on slotted rotors and better pads.
I plan on improved shocks and springs and adjustable anti-sway bars.

If this helps my position any:
1. I have a set of OEM Nismo 350z Autech frame dampeners (or is it dampers?
....Ive seen both words used).2. I am also considering an OEM V3 rear wing. Ill likely have to modify it to fit my trunk.
Anyone change their mind regarding a Nismo badge?
Who the hell cares. I own an authentic NISMO 350z and it really makes no difference to me what you do. If you do ask me I dont think you should put it on but i dont think putting it on is that bad anyways. Do what you want. In all honestly though you probably are better than half the people with nismo badges on their cars anyways. I mean people put those things on stock cars or cars with non nismo parts to begin with. If you want to fork out even a good amount of money for the original NISMO badge from a NISMO 350z just do it and be happy with your modifications.
If it were me though. All that money spent you could of pratically bought a 40-60k mile Nismo 350z with the updated HR engine, chassis seam welds and little tid bits that really make the NISMO version unique
And no I dont take offense if you put one on or not. Its your money and car do what you like with it to make yourself enjoy your car and life!

The seller of the frame dampeners told me he thought the chassis of my 05 was different than the 06+. Does anyone know if this is true. Also, if anyone has pictures of where the frame dampeners attach, I'd appreciate it.

. How's that coming along?
