If you remove the utec the dealer wouldn't be able to tell if you had it on there or not. And with a reflash, they cant tell if the ecu was/is flashed or not

Nope
The regular emanage blue will not pull timing. You'd have to go with the Emanage Ultimate, and even then it doesn't detect knock and adjust. And it costs about the same as the UTEC once you buy the custom harness needed to make it work with the Z.
You're better off going with the UTEC.
Trying to save a few bucks now is going to cost you a few G's later.
Don't chance messing up your baby on nitrous unmanaged. Take your time and save for the UTEC and then put it all together.

I ran slightly better times NA with the utec, test pipes, K@N drop-in filter, spacer and factory exhaust than I did with pop-charger, spacer, test-pipes and Injen exhaust. I sold the pop-charger and Injen and raised $700 toward the utec and I don't regret it, I'm still rocking the factory exhaust running 11.2's on stock block.

And the utec was tuned off data-logs only, I never tuned it on a dyno so more could have been gained.

LOL!
Your right.
Spend 30K+ on the car, refuse to spend additional $ for UTEC to go with nitrous setup, and boom! all that money flushed down the toilet because he doesn't listen.
I guess we'll just let him do it his way and learn the hard way
Hasta!.

Check the Marketplace in here (link at top of page under the My350Z emblem).
There are always vendors selling new UTECs in the Vendor section under 'Engine'.
But you can also get a good deal on a used one in the Marketplaces Private Classifieds under 'Engine' and sometime the 'Turbo, Nitrous' section.

You just need to keep your eye out and check constantly.

So what mods did you have to accomplish the N2O record?

VQTURBODREAMS, get it tuned dude! So far, UTEC has been the best way to do it for Nitrous. I'd say research a little bit more about nitrous so you have a better idea of what you're working with before you go to the extremes of making your car faster with Nitrous. Not to be condescending or anything, but most of us are trying to help you realize that we dont want you blowing up your motor.
