direct port idea

direct port idea
so i have been debating on doing a direct port setup on my car for awhile and i could do it the normal way and use 6 wet foggers or i had a friend come by and suggest using 6 dry nozzles and just add the extra fuel with tuning.
he said he had heard of some hondas using that setup.
any ideas on this setup on the Z? i used my spare engine on the stand and bolted the heads and lower collector on to use to mock up fogger fitment.

a lot of guys have gone really fast on a single nozzle. unless you are running a really big shot its not worth it. the jet sizes are very small. imagine a 150 shot, broken into three nozzles... thats 25hp a nozzle. that said, if you are dead set on a direct port setup, look into the kinetix manifold. that would be the easiest one to plumb by far, and you could use wet nozzles with a rail. thats what i would do if it were me. i think you could also do it with a cosworth intake, several ways... there isnt a lot of room with the stock setup. how big of a shot are you really gonna run?

i have a plastic kinetix on the car now and the issue with the single wet fogger is that the fuel and nitrous dont mix and distribute evenly with my 150 shot. and i have blown up 2 kinetix from the fuel puddling up in the plenum.
and i have a spare engine on a stand i have plenty of room for the nozzles and lines with a wet or dry direct port. i will be running a 150 shot.

the last time it happened i know it was fuel puddling up because the plenum blew apart and the hood blew up at the back and i could see the fuel burning and it actually scorched some stuff in the bay.

no the 1st 125 is on a wot switch. the 2nd 25 is on a button i hit in second gear.
but the problem with it is flow. i dont have the 2 solenoids hooked up with a Y they are inline and i have had the car on 2 different dynos and when i hit the second stage i lose 10-20 ft-lbs but gain 20 hp
on 125 shot i make 370/409
on 150 shot 2 stage i make 389/393

that said, i think the trying the 150 shot single nozzle is a good idea before you take the direct port plunge. ive read about a few people running that much on a z with good results. good luck and keep us posted!

yea im nervous about spraying the big single 150. i was gaining 182 ft-lbs off of just a 125 shot. i think the car will be faster all around with the single 150 because i wont have the dip in tq when i spray the second stage. im hoping with the bigger shot i will be able to get my 60' times down in the 1.57 range. im probably gonna install that diff bushing i got from you, and a set of soild engine mounts i had fabricated.

here is that link for the nozzle shootout.

See what your A/F is before the track and I would get different size fuel jets to adjust if needed.
Threefivezero what size dynotune jets are you using?
