Default Just got dyno'd, 321.5 HP 387.3 TQ

Hey guys, I just dyno'd the Z today, and I'm pretty happy with the results.

Baseline
233.4 HP 225.3 TQ

75 shot 41/24
294.9 HP 332.5 TQ

100 shot 52/31
321.5 HP 387.3 TQ

Need a little help though seeing as this was my first time. My last run with the 100 shot (52/31) was pretty rich, staying between 10 and 11 and bottoming out under 10 around 5500 rpms. How rich is this and can it ruin my car. The shop guy said it was kind rich but shouldn't hurt the car, it just isn't running at its optimal level. I know I'd be only running this rich for the few moments I'm spraying but I don't want to ruin anything. I was thinking about running a smaller fuel jet but how much lower should I go? 1 size?

Any help, suggestions, or opinions are welcome.

I'm just I passed the 300hp mark. 321.5 HP and 387.3 TQ BABY!!!!

Thanks. I want to optimize the 100 shot still. Hopefully when I adjust the A/F on the 100 shot by using a smaller fuel jet, the #'s will go up even more.

Yea I dyno'd it in 5th gear. I hit the nitrous a little past 3k. It was a cool evening. Bottle was around 900 psi. About a 10 min break between the baseline and the 75 shot. About a 30 min break between the 75 and the 100 shot since I had to switch jets.

Nice Dyno... You could leave the pill in there and get an SAFC II. This would allow you to lean it out a little in the super rich areas but keep the optimal A/F ratio at all rpms. I plan on getting an SAFC and have 2 programs. One set for everyday N/A and a 2nd program for use with my Nitrous setup.

I too am thinking of getting a dyno since I cant find a safe strip to run my coworker's Gtech. Which shop performed your dyno and how much? Did you install the plugs yourself or a shop? Thanks..

Installed the plugs my self. The shop I got it done at was here in San Diego, Autotech Motorsports. They're o.k. people but I thought they were gonna give me a hook up and they didn't. They charged me 100 for the 3 runs. So I suggest you might want to look elsewhere. In fact I was gonna try to set up a dyno day for them but since they didn't scratch my back...well you know how it goes.

I say go for it man! And yes, it's hella fun to drive!

Looking at your dynos closely, I think that you have a lot more power there if you lean it out some. Your A/F on the 75 shot looks good, just a tad rich, but you are running really rich on the 100 shot. If you can get the A/F closer to a 12, and based on your TQ at the wheels you will probably gain another 30+ whp.

Yea, thats what I was thinking too, the trick is figuring out what jet size to use. I'm gonna see if the guy will let me dyno one more time on a smaller fuel jet. My goal really isn't more hp, thats plenty as it is. I want to optimize it so the extra rich condition doesn't mess up my car.

your bottle pressure could b one of the reasons for the rich condition. u want your bottle at 1000-1050 psi.

deffiatly take some fuel out. NA cars should be around 12.5af
try a 29 jet

Amen to that

damn now I'm worried, my new jets just came in and I'm using 52/30 which IS 1pt down on the fuel but I don't think its going to be enough. I need a 28 i think. anyone know if nx has a 28? Zex said theirs jumped from 26-30. I'm using 46/26 right now, but I think keeping the 26 in with the 52 n20 will be too lean right?

and how the hell are you guys keeping traction with these larger shots? I have trouble even with 46/26 even in 2nd gear
when I engage it. I have Michelin Pilot sport 255/35/19's and they are some STICKY street tires but nowhere near enough for me to upgrade to the 52/30
i have fwd, is the rwd helping enough to keep the power to the ground or are your tires spining?

Man, I really wouldn't take the chance of guessing when it comes to nitrous. I suggest doing like I did and dynoing with the manufacturer suggested jet size and go down little at a time. It's also gonna vary for each car.

oh I know, its just that you have to make a dyno appointment like 3-4 weeks in advance where I go so for those few weeks i have to just take it kind of easy. Zex doesn't have any recommendations above a 75hp shot (50whp or so) for the 3rd Gen altimas so Zex just sent me a 52/30 for a 125hp shot (100whp) but he recommended a 28 fuel but said they don't make one, pretty stupid if you ask me. From what I've heard its basically the same ratio for all VQ35DE's except the 350Z/G35C lean out kind of bad in the front 2 cylinders due to your short intake.
