Anyone know if the LED tail lights happen by any chance to be lighter than the earlier ones?

Yes, the 06+ LED lights have chrome on plastic all over the inside so they look brighter. The 03-05 tails are black where they are not supposed to be reflective so it makes the whole thing look darker when compared to the newer ones.
