Detroit Area Z List part 3
Jeff,
I sanded it for about 8 hours!! I started off with 100 grit using a vibrator Sander, Then I went to 400 grit . still using the vibrator Sander then I went over a couple spots with hundreds grit by hand & then 400 grit by Hand. Oh yeah I used a dremel tool for the little tight spots. and then I use , mothers polish & polish ball.
I decided not to paint my engine cover!! I ordered a black carbon fiber one today I think it will look cool with my carbon fiber air intake Box. here is a pic of it

Damn, I don't get on this site much when the Z's in the garage... I missed Craig's install, AJ's un-install (I'm assuming it happened)...
Billy, you still doing yours this wed? I'll be in Indiana for work, but I'm either coming back Wed or Thurs. If I make it back, I'll stop by and help out.
My Z looks so lonely sitting in the garage...

I might be able to make it there by 3:30 or sooner. I will call you and let you know.
Ok guys, I sanded my intake down one more time since the last picture, And this time I used my high speed buffing wheel to polish it!!...looks like chrome now!! it is a lot shinier than the picture shows!
Question about remote starts in general.
My TBSS was hooked up with the wiring set with the Tach. So I guess what that means is, the starter cranks until the tach responds, then it kills the starter. If I've comprehended this correct, this would be the best way to do it.
I got my girlfriend a remote start for christmas from work and got it installed. They said they wired it up using voltage. Wiring it that way, requires you to set a crank time. I personally don't think this is good because it can vary how much start time is required, and the first couple starts, it was fine. When I brought home the car, and wanted to show her, it started really rough and I did not like it at all. I would have suggested it be done with Tach, but I don't like to be a critic and tell other installers how to do it, when i'm not exactly an installer myself.
What's your feelings on this guys? I told him I wasn't too thrilled about that, and I also found out afterwards that the doors lock any time you start the car while you're in it. That's got major potential to lock yourself out, especially on an older car.
BTW, it's an 02 Cavalier.

Wow. I talked to a couple people at the company that handles my 350Z loan (because the first person didn't give me the right answer). And they said I could drop collision coverage on my car while it is being stored at home. I keep full coverage + liability on it. I thought I'd only be saving a few bucks...
If I bring it out of storage in 3 months - I will save about $440. The insurance company said to check with the Secretary of State to see if I can legally drop liability coverage too - that would save maybe an extra $100 during that time.
Not too shabby...and worth making a few phone calls. Plus the car is still covered if it's is somehow stolen or my garage drops on it..etc..

Thekinn, I always drop my collision coverage for the winner, why pay it!! You're not using it. $440. Good deal!!
Ok Guys, I put in my spacer yesterday! I'm still waiting on my carbon fiber engine cover. My intake manifold looks like a mirror!! looks awesome!! what do you guys think??

Billy, take it off!! Bring it over!.. And bring lots of cash$$$$ lol
Or you could do it your self, Its not hard just time consuming, But your Z is put away for the winner!! so if you just worked on it a hour or two a day it would be done in a couple weeks!! And the look is awesome!!
