It may have. Check out goprouser.freeforums.org. They have a nice community list of cards. It led me to getting HP class 4 cards which were faster and more compatible than the SansDisk class 6.

Man just dropped off the 4Runner at the stealer to fix a torn CV boot and steering boot, also had them change the cabin air fliter and do an oil change (i'm lazy and the boots are actually a big job).....$800!!

Gonna pickup some plugs and some fluids to change the front/rear diff and trans fluid this weekend.

Man at this point, if I have to do another big job like this, I'm gonna end up selling the 4Runner and getting a newer DD cuz it's not worth it.

 

With my Altima I recently spent close to 2K (front struts/shocks and exhaust manifold). I spent that much as I know the condition of the car and have confidence that it will run a lot longer.

Did you buy it new? How is the condition of the vehicle?

 

Damn. That's a big bill, Rob. That was what I spent on all new brakes for my cavalier last winter. (Calipers seized, rotors warped, drums screwed up somehow)

I want to do trans fluid and diff fluid this winter sometime on the Z. Have to get a transfer pump and someplace to put it up on stands first though. ;/

 

Well the 4Runner is a 96, so it's about 14 yrs old but only 130K so not that many miles.

Then again, I've beaten this thing up on the trails pretty bad.

It's weird, if it was the Z then I would have done a lot of it myself, but since it's the 4Runner, I don't a floor jack or jack stands tall enough for it, and I don't want to deal with broken/rusted parts lol.

edit: Just got a call back, steering rack is pretty much toast.........Either pay $300 to fix the boot and wait till it complete breaks, or $1,000 for the rack now.......crap

 

Which model Altima do you have? Picked up my wife a 2009 2 door coupe with the 3.5L in it. Great car!!!!!

 

What are the symptoms. Steering rack done for or just the boot?

Just a tip for short floor jacks: Make a solid wood box out of 2x4s to place under your jack. Same for your jackstands. Make sure you make it large enough for when the jack rolls while lifting. You can place wood on the lifting pad but this feels to unsteady for me.

I have a chop saw and nailgun if you ever need to make a set of blocks.

 

well the steering rack boot has a huge hole in it, so I asked them to fix it. They give me a call back and say that the rack bushings are pretty much done for and some bigger problem will come in the near future.

I decided to just have them replace the entire rack (thinking I'm gonna keep the 4runner for another couple years or so) but I may just drive it this winter and get rid of it next summer for a prius

Cuz whatever the next problem is, I ain't gonna deal with it no more

 

Why Prius? Why not one of the many new EV cars that are coming out in the next few years? This is ofcourse, assuming you will be in market 2-3 yrs from now.

I really want to see where Subaru takes their version of the FT86, driveline wise. I feel Toyota lacks the courage to really make the car desirable for us enthusiasts.

It doesn't. If I was looking for another commuter I'd consider the Fiesta. However my little 09 Impreza (when driven @ the posted speed limit ) gets 29-30 mpg on the highway, and I typically average 27 mpg every tank. Considering the car is AWD, it makes a heck of a DD for Michigan, especially in the winter.
