hey guys - long time no see. i meant to make the meeting this past tuesday (i mean to make all of them, lol) but instead had to stop at discount tire to take care of an air leak in my front driver's side wheel. i posted a thread in the North Central Marketplace about looking for a set of 18" stock wheels. lmk if someone has some stockers laying around.

If you have more trouble you're welcome to borrow my stock 19s with summer tires, Scott. :P

One of these days I'll bring you your socket too. It's sitting right on my desk in front of me.

Happy Chinese New Years everyone!

Hopefully everybody got the day off today, surprisingly work was cancelled (which has never happened since I've been there) but I still had to go to class (boo!). Either way, enjoyed the day, got a bunch of errands done. The 4Runner did great, no probs in the snow, only in my neighborhood I was screwing around in 2wd and came a bit close to a Honda, but alls good

I took mine to Auto Addictions in Rochester Hills. Paint cracked like Hell. I really didn't care for their attitude there. I asked to watch from the garage door and they quoted some BS about insurance. I understand that but I was going to be outside looking in. I feel they didn't use enough heat. I'd buy the tool, do it myself then sell the tool for 75% before going there again.

Default shop thread

Don't forget about the shop thread - post up your experience to keep tabs on the who and who "not's" in the area..

So I'm heading out for a vacation in Vegas on the 23rd... I am thinking about renting a 996 while I'm there. :P For $209/day I get 100 miles in the 996 or for $159/day it's 100 miles in a Z4....

Talk me into or out of this brilliant idea. Any suggestions on rental companies out there?

I thought about doing the job myself with a baseball pat but i didnt want to crack the paint I have never done it before so i don't want to mess it up.
I am looking for a shop that will do it right and wont mess it up for me.

lee, do it! the trip will be much better if you do. and, while you're there - try and catch the Cirque show 'Love' at the Mirage, where it's all Beatles music. we just got back a few weeks ago and it was AMAzing.

stay away from Fox rentals. i reserved a new camaro, and got stuck with a convertible mustang. they're cheap for a reason...

I would not rent an expensive car in or around Vegas. Most people go and stay around the strip and its too busy to drive a car around there. The way I did it on our Vegas trip is got drunk, went to some nice bars, saw some shows and when had some idle time did some gambling.

However, I would rent an expensive car or even an exotic in places where I can drive. An example is Hawaii.

I second that. It has been a loong time sine I was in Vegas.. but we walked everywhere or took a cab. Walking down the street chuggin beer in the open was pretty cool, back in the day. Had to drink it fast though before the desert hotness warmed it up. Vegas.. a foggy memory now. Very foggy. lol.

Well... I will be visiting a friend in AZ and I'm thinking about maybe heading to the grand canyon. So I will be doing at least a little driving.

If you are driving towards Grand Canyon rent a FAST car. I was told that the freeway that goes from Vegas towards GC is out in the desert and you often see people hitting 150+

+1 on just walking around vegas (that's where my bachelor party will be )

and +2 on the drive from vegas to the grand canyon being an empty desert.

when will you be in az? we'll be going there in March for wedding stuff.
