Default Putnam Park track days June 14-15

I'm thinking about going to Putnam Park for a driving school weekend on June 14-15. It's being run by Bluegrass BMW CCA, and they're welcoming non-Bimmers to run with them. They're actually looking to fill some slots that are still open.

Is anyone interested in joining me there? I've never been to Putnam, but I've heard good things about it.

For more info, see http://www.bluegrassbimmers.org/. I contacted the organizer, and he's giving me until next Friday, June 6, to register. The cost is $390 (includes $50 for BMW CCA and Bluegrass club memberships, which are required).

Also, Putnam Park's web site is (oddly enough ) http://www.putnampark.com/

Hope to see some midwest 350Z's there!

Default track time

most BMW schools give you 3 sessions 1 day and 4 the next. Each session is about 25 min. long. There is about 2 hrs of class time each day. You can tour the track during the lunch session each day.

That's one super expensive track day(s). For $200, I get full access to the track for a full day... Like 8-10hours of possible driving.

Do you mean at Putnam? How do you get that???

Are you a real experienced racer? Is that through your job or special contacts or something? Details, details please!

Yup - I'm definitely talking Putnam. I've also got a track day later this month at GingerMan for $70 with about 3-4hours track time.

It's all about connections, who-you-know, and keeping your eyes open. I'll be sure to let you know when the next Putnam event will be .

Dude! You rule!

I would definitely like to get in on some cheap track time at Putnam or anywhere else within reasonable driving distance of Cinci. Check you PMs -- I'll send you my contact info.

Default schools

You have to keep in mind that each session you have an instructor who is qualified to teach you the track and to get the most out of your car. Each day you have classroom instruction to cover the finner points of driving. If you just want to do laps and keep making the same mistakes over and over then schools are pretty expensive.

Clyde - Excellent point, for an instructed class I guess it is a good deal. I guess I often forget about that aspect since I've been an instructor at Putnam, VIR, Road Atlanta & Gingerman for different events/clubs.

Steve - I got your PM - I'll keep you in the loop. The next event might be July/August timing .
