So Greg and I were talking about getting a group together to go to the Leiny's brewery in Wisconsin. It's less than a 2 hour drive. We're thinking of doing the cruise on the first or second weekend of June. Any interest?
BTW, I talked to a guy today that does dent removals. He's in AV and seems like a car nut, so he's cool. We talked for a long time about car stuff. Bottom line is if we can get a group together on a Saturday, he may only charge us about $200 and some beers for 3 or so cars.
Might be settling for these as my first choice for the rear tires.
i run those on my evo. a decent tire. I was going to put them on the fronts of my Z, but shop had a hard time getting them, so I spent a bit more on the michelin PSS
and since a few of you here are mods, whats the best way to go about a large transaction with a stranger off of here? Is there a specific forum rule about who sends what first? Or is it just a mutual trust deal?
some may know but I had a rebuild on my z this year. had cooling issues with the previous setup that were getting worse and worse each season. I finally saw a bit of white smoke out the tail pipes last fall. that was the last straw so we ripped it apart. proved to be bad machining from the machine shop on the mating surfaces of the block and heads.... shop is out of business now, so I took it in the shorts.... heads and block were junk.
onto the new build->
sourced a long block core. heads went to headwerks in bloomington and block went to dynosty for a rebuild.
got everything back (took about 6 wks longer than expected) and back together. car went down to chicago for the tune on may 21st. fueling issues limited us to 11 psi rather than the 16-17 I was looking for. I get the car back on the 22nd and two days later I tear my left biceps off at the elbow... now I am facked up, a one arm wonder. I manage with a gimp arm to pull the injectors and get them off to RC engineering for inspection and service. While they are off, I have surgery on the 1st to reattached the biceps.
been laid up since then and now I am at the mercy of a couple friends to pull the plugs and get everything back together. Friend Tom helped me a couple weeks ago (a day or so before surgery) to get a couple things broken down as I had a knock sensor that wasn't reading properly as well. We go the rails off the car and lower intake runners to get at it.
Got the injectors back, ordered up a new knock sensor and today I had my buddy richie down to help me out. He inspected the plugs and the plug in the cylinder with the 'suspect' injector showed a little sign of issues. this was a good thing as I feel confident we found the cause of the problem and have resolved it. Got the car back together today and I just got back from putting a few miles on it.
I'll be limited to 11 psi till I go back for a retune. tuner said I could maybe bump to the 14 psi map he loaded, but given the gimp arm, the lower boost is plenty much for one arm to handle whilst trying to shift.....
not sure when I'll have the time or money for a second tune as I am really limited by my Fcon where I can get tuned. 400 miles each way to chicago is about as close as it comes for a tuner for me. I looked into swapping for the haltech, but at the end of the day it was just too much $ for basically allowing anyone to tune it (I wouldn't get any more power or driveability out of it).
here's how it looked after we wrapped it up today... when I say we, I mean I did a lot of talking, watching and handing off a tool here and there; Richie did all the work.
