Default Moving to Ann Arbor

Hey, I know I've been VERY silent (as if I'd posted a lot before...) but I've just gotten a job in Ann Arbor, and I'm going to be up there in a couple weeks.

Any recommendations on shops to recycle oil, wheels/tires/alignment, audio, exhaust, etc.?

Plus, I'd like to start (casual) autocrossing...

I'll be planning on flying down home sometime in the fall to visit home and hopefully pick up a beater for winter. (A buddy of mine says he's going to look at selling his late '90s (don't know the year for sure) 4-cyl manual accord that's been really well kept up.)

you should check out the detroit area Z list and detroit area Z list (meets and events). It is basically for eveyone on south eastern Michigan. We are a pretty close group. Welcome to MI and I hope to meet ya when you get here.

Just wear lots of buckeye clothing and everything will work out just fine.

J/K - welcome to the midwest.

Ann Arbor is about 45mins from 'Metro Detroit'.. Any recommendations from me would be way out of the way.. but I can tell you where NOT to get tires mounted in my area... I'm still looking for a good tire mounter - it shouldn't be this hard. I had VERY bad luck with Belle Tire, and just bad luck with Discount Tire.

Michigan is pretty good about waste disposal and recycling - it shouldn't be difficult for you to find an oil disposal place.

Audio - haven't done that yet, alignment (again, out of the way) Boyland Nissan in Macomb. I've had great luck with their service so far (alignment, oil consumption test, warranty engine replacement), exhaust - the guys here have done too many for me to count.

Welcome.

As always, Dick Scott Nissan in Canton is given high praise, so if you're looking for good dealership service, that would be a good start. It's actually only a 20 minute drive from Ann Arbor.

I got a software development job. The customer base is nationwide, so it's sort of insulated from MI's local economic woes.

Welcome to A2 (you'll learn that is short for Ann Arbor).

I'm about 5 minutes east of you in Ypsilanti. Just holler if you need anything or want to hook up.

Congrats on the job!

Go Buckeyes! (Bwahaha - that was funny Goodkd)
