Default Michigan Dealer/Service Department rating

From reading and discussing warranty repairs on Z, there seems to be certain dealer/service dept to stay away. I thought I would start a new thread for local Michigander to input their opinion. Hopefully this can reduce hassle and stress for all future dealer/service dept. visits.

If anyone recently visited the Nissan Service Dept, please share the reason for the visit, then rate items below using the metrix(1-Poor, 3-Average, 5-Excellent):

Reason for visit?
(1) rate the service you received
(2) rate the technical competence service technician who handled this service
(3) rate the attitude and manner of the service manager
(4) rate your overall experience this service

rgd,
Mickey

I have had no service yet but I got a great deal on my Z. I had the VPP discount from TRW automotive. My sales person was Chuck Schnider. They gave me the best deal possible on everything. 3.59 % rate 5 year purchase. i got the car for like 3000 below msrp. so the final tally was like 38500 for the car including tax, financing, and the 100,000 mile warranty for a 04 toruing z coupe (no nav) and no aero kit but everything else.
my payment is 640 a month and i but ***$0.00 Down***

i know this isnt for service but im sure it will help future buyers searching around hopefully. so i give him a 5. when i get my car in for service ill be sure to give a report.

I RATE KEY NISSAN THE BEST DEALER THAT I HAVE HAD TO WORK WITH FOR SERVICE AND PARTS. MIKE IN THE SERVICE DEPT. WORKS HARD TO MAKE IT RIGHT. PHIL IN THE PARTS DEPT TRIES HIS BEST TO GET WHAT EVER YOU NEED. I TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD INSTALL AND WORK WITH ME ON ANY NISMO PARTS I WANTED. HOPE THEY PROVIDE THE SAME SERVICE TO ANY Z OWNER! ZLESSNOMORE

All I can say is I cannot be happier with Dick Scott Nissan. Doug in service really knows his stuff. They went out of there way to make me happy.

Dick Scott Nissan:

Reason for visit? Tire Feathering, interior noises, transmission...

(1) rate the service you received= 5...outstanding!

(2) rate the technical competence service technician who handled this service= 5...outstanding (everything fixed the first time)

(3) rate the attitude and manner of the service manager= 5...I highly recommend Doug and Marty at Dick Scott

(4) rate your overall experience this service= 5

As you can see, I'm very happy with Dick Scott. They do anything they can to help you with any problems...and they do it with an inviting attitude.

And...my experiences with Tamaroff's service department were the last experiences I will ever have with them.

can i give negative ratings?

Tamaroff Nissan on Telegraph and 11 mile.

Reason for visit? tire feathering, window grease (which was never fixed), retorquing suspension (4 trips in all)

(1) rate the service you received---1
(2) rate the technical competence service technician who handled this service---1. calling them idiots would be giving them too much credit.
(3) rate the attitude and manner of the service manager---1 (but ill give her a 5 for the excuses she came up with and putting blame on someone else)
(4) rate your overall experience this service---1

i can go on for ever with everything that went wrong. i wont even get into the details again. i've vented enough on the detroit z list thread.
pretty simple. stay away from tamaroff. im gonna try dick scott next. a lot of positive feedback from them.

I also give Dick Scot a 5 in all areas. I went for the tire feathering and it was fixed with no questions at all.

ack. I've been waiting for over 3 weeks to get replacement tires from Key Nissan. Major bummer. When I called them (10 days after I took my car in) they seemed to have forgotten to order tires for me. I'm supposed to call them today...hopefully the tires are in and I can get my alignment fixed by tomorrow.

i have mixed feelings on Ann Arbor Nissan. The service manager, Chuck, is really nice, and always takes care of me. but my tech told me that my tires feathering was my fault due to the way I drive the car, and thats what i should expect from owning a sports car. so i didnt get new tires like everyone else, and i really felt like my tech was kinda dumb after he told me that. so besides not taking care of my feathering issue, theyre alright. anyone else actually get new tires? i need to find a place thats actually gonna fix the problem

Ok...so I finally have my new front tires. Key Nissan replaced them yesterday and did the alignment according to the TSB. After the initial wait (since May 10) the service was good.

mdacko....ummmm....maybe you should go back to Ann Arbor Nissan again. The tech can't tell you that the tire feathering is your fault. Maybe your tech wasn't aware of the situation???Show them the TSB...you can download it off this site. They can't argue with a Nissan TSB. If the tech tries, I would talk to a manager. How frustrating! If the alignment was bad, then the tires feather, then Nissan will replace them. If they don't...Key Nissan (Warren) will.

mdacko, I have had simular issues with the techs at A2 Nissan. I called the owner and left a message with his secretary (?). The message was 'Do you want to keep my business?'. He called me back and has the actual service manager, not Chuck, looking into the matter.

Owner Doug Fox Ph # 663-7770
Service Manager Bob Chisholm (?sp) 663-7778

Now, assuming all of this is not a line of crap, there might be some action. It has been 4 business days since Bob and I spoke and I intend to contact him on Monday if he has not contacted me by 9 AM or so.

FYI, A2 Nissan said nothing was wrong with my tires. I took it to the Nissan dealer in Jackson and they did the procedure to check the tire wear, found the first fealer gauge fit and the second did not. BUT they did not perform the tire swap from R to L, etc. nor did they check the alingment as the TSB states should be done.

I am not certain what this means. My concern is the dealers are stalling for some reason or are posibly not adressing the issue untill the tires get to the point of needing replacement.

FYI, the Jackson dealer was attentive and courteous, I am not certain if they are at the top of their game.

I am also taking my Z to a third dealer to assess a couple other issue I have. If you are interested in an evaluation on the next dealer let me know.

I re-read the TSB and found out that the only way you will get new tires is if they are the original tires that came with the car. Or if you got new wheels...it voids the warranty. They will service NISMO wheels...but that's it. Although all dealerships should do the proper alignment no matter what wheels or tires you have on your Z.

Mdacko, since you put new tires on, go and get an alignment done at Dick Scott on Michigan Ave before I-275. Don't wait because you don't want the feathering to start on those. Dick Scott is great and has replaced at least four sets for people. Mine was done last November, no questions asked!!!

I have about 6,000 miles on since the new tires and no feathering.

I've got two dealerships:

Jeffrey Nissan on Gratiot in Roseville is horrible!
(1) rate the service you received--1
Workers were rude and inattentive.
(2) rate the technical competence service technician who handled this service--1
I had them install a crank pulley, and after I told them it didn't seem like it was installed right, what with the burning smell and whining, they said they weren't concerned and it was just "wearing in." I had it towed a day later because the belt was never properly installed on the pulley, leading it to slip, and consequently making it breakdown on the side of the road.
(3) rate the attitude and manner of the service manager--3
He didn't seem to care too much.
(4) rate your overall experience this service--1
BAD

Now with Key Nissan, it's a different story, I crashed my car and they put it back together for me:

(1) rate the service you received--5
Though I thought a month for my repair took a while, it was below the average time for the extent of the repairs.
(2) rate the technical competence service technician who handled this service--5
I talked to most of the people who worked on my car, and they all knew what they were doing as well as cared about the car.
(3) rate the attitude and manner of the service manager--5
Cam is the new service manager, Bruce is the new body shop manager. Both are great guys who get the work done right. Cam even got my deductible waived.
(4) rate your overall experience this service--5
I made sure to call the guys every few days while my car was beinbg fixed, but it paid off, they got it done quick and right, and even fixed an electrical problem Jeffrey Nissan caused.

Key Nissan the only place I'll go to now.

I WAS HOPING HE WOULD TAKE ME HOME BUT HE SAID NO ILL TAKE U TO WORK CUZ UR HOUSE IS TOO FAR

Service Department: Dick Scott Nissan, Canton

Reason for visit? 30k Maintenance, TSB Work/Inspections

(1) rate the service you received - (5)

(2) rate the technical competence service technician who handled this service - (5)

(3) rate the attitude and manner of the service manager (5) - Both Doug and Kyle are attentive to details, and willing to work with their customers. It's a give and take situation - if you're willing to work with them, they'll bend over backwards to work with you on your issues.

(4) rate your overall experience this service - (5)
This is really out of my way to go there for service, but after reading everything on this board about how good they are, it's worth the trip out there. I had the same situation when I lived in Seattle, and the guys at Dick Scott made me feel like I was right at home working with them. They seem to be following the lead of many of the other top dealerships on these boards, and understanding that they can develop truly great customer (and repeat customer) relationships if they just focus on service (read: professionalism and respect), and performance.

Would definitely recommend them as a dealer of choice in the area.

Default Dick Scott Nissan on front suspension clucking noise

My rating for Dick Scott Nissan server dept. (Canton, MI):
Matrix =(1-Poor, 3-Average, 5-Excellent)

Reason for visit:
Fixing clunking noice coming from left-front suspension.

(1) rate the service you received - <5>
I droped the car off @7:30am, received call back from Dick Scott @9:30am that issue is fixed.

(2) rate the technical competence service technician who handled this service - <5>
I thought the problem was related to a TSB, I even print out the TSB and had it attached to the work order. The service tech was able to determine my issue isn't related to the TSB, they determine the actual cause and corrected it.

(3) rate the attitude and manner of the service manager - <5>
I drove in the server area, and was immediated greeted by both Doug and Kyle. They listen and note down everything I mentioned, you can feel that they cared about your car.

(4) rate your overall experience this service - <5>
Very satisfied!
