Jon, resetting the ECU doesnt require down time, it takes like 5 minutes and a lot of pushing on your gas pedal. I think i got the instructions from the technosquare site too, it looks ridiculous but works.

From previous postings, I believe most agreed our club is called "The Detroit Z", a Michigan Z car community?
URL of our club

Is it? or is it not?

Detroit Z. We are looking for some support in any way we can get it. Also, I think a few of us were looking at the Z club to include all generations of Zs 240s, 280s, etc.

sorry to hear about your family member jon.

derrick, i knew it was u, and the hair did throw me off a bit. you had some nappy timing though. i was getting off at the next exit right when your buddy pulled up with you hangin out the window. i was on the way back from milan (again). there was a ford meet there and a few of my buddies needed a ride in case one of there cars broke down. you know how fords are. heh. i didnt run my car yesterday though. i let her rest up.

2 of the guys i went with had a yellow honda cbr600 and a mustang cobra right behind me, did you see them? they should of been right behind me.

by the way. the xceepspeed meet @ milan is august 14th not the 17th. we need to start planning for that one from now. it'll probably be the last meet we set up for the year considering how much of a pain it is to get people to go to these things. lets work out all the details and ill start emailing everyone on the list. we should go there together as the detroit z club. they'll have test and tune for a few hours @ milan then bracket racing from 6-11pm. it doesnt matter how fast your car is, it only matters how consistant you are with your 1/4 time estimate.\

thats a nice pic jason. the one on my phone came out like poop

does anyone know a good mechanic? someone who doesnt work for a nissan dealership. im talking good not average. i need someone that knows what he's doing. im sick of dealing with all these idiots in our area. if you guys know of anyone, please let me know. i dont care where they are located as long as i dont have to drive over 4 hours to get to them.

who hires these people anyway? michigan has got to be one of the worst places to go for modding your car. of course unless its ford or chevy, then you can get parts as fast as you can break um.

an example. i went to a store today (wont name any names) to get a price on having a gauge pod fabricated for my z. "ummmm 4-500 atleast, and it'll take a few weeks" wtf?? i didnt know it was brain surgery. then the tried to over charge me by $220.00 on gauges. im done with this mod crap for now. does this car bring out greed in people?

anyway. again, if anyone knows of a good mechanic (not a custom fab place) that has dealt with and worked on a 350z, please let me know. thanks.

Default Airbag light

Which dealer is wanting to charge you $44?

If there is a lamp on, you should not disregard it if you want the bags to deploy in an accident.

To clear those DTCs will take under a minute including the time to connect the tester to the OBDII port.

yea thats what i told them. it was jeffrey nissan. he made it seem like it was something crazy. granted that computer they have and the software is very pricy, but to reset a airbag come on. plus i bought the extra warranty which included every frecking check box in the book they gave me. when he told me 88 bucks, i almost wanted to go download some heavy metal stuff and blow out my speakers and say here replace my stuff since its covered on my extra warranty. im going to try to reset the ecu today. my sister works for TRW and works speicifically with airbags. she said that it is a 50 50 chance of it working now. it either just warns you that there is/was something is wrong or that it completley shut that part of the airbag system down.
enzineer, where you work what u do

I work in electronic brakes. More specifically on stability control, which goes by many different names: ESP, DSC, VDC, AdvanceTrac, StabiliTrac, etc. etc. (all try to do the same thing)

Your sister is correct in that you have about a 50/50 chance of it working, which isn't good for an airbag. There is a potential that the system detected a signal that didn't look right, which we call a "plausibility" fault, which may mean that the system is still active but needs to be checked out, or in the other direction it could be an "electrical" fault, which means that there is something wrong (sensor not there, wire shorted to ground, etc.) and the airbag system is shut down.

In this day and age I'm surprised you didn't have to sign three or four forms indemnifying the dealership before you drove off with an airbag lamp on!

Jonathan,
Sorry to hear about your loss. Call me, I have an OBDII scanner which should be able to tell you if anything is wrong with your airbags and it can turn off the light. I've used it numerous times to turn my SES light off (i get randam misfire codes all the time). I'll scan it for you for free and get rid of the light. 586-839-7906

GRATIOT CRUISE?

Who's going to this on Sunday? Apparently it is just like the Woodward dream cruise except its on Gratiot on the east side. I'm going to make an attempt to go to this. It would be pretty cool to get a few Z's together for this. I think its starts around 12:00 with vendors etc. being there. Mike, what about you?
