CT Fall Cruise Thread
Larry and I spoke as we were leaving the Newport show, and he suggested I plan another get together for the fall for T350Gz.
I have been thinking for the past year about doing a "sight-seeing" cruise of sorts, incorporating different types of roads and checkpoints.
Okay, so here are my two possible general cruise ideas, subject to change based on what everyone posts as a response in this thread:
RI Cruise: Incorporating Rt. 1 driving on the shoreline (START in Watch Hill --> Misquamicut --> Narragansett --> Newport (lunch break) --> END at Providence Place Mall, top floor)
It will start a little later than normal, probably 9 am. The total amount of driving, according to MapQuest from place-->place is just over 2 hrs, but with photo ops, bathroom breaks, etc. I'm thinking 4 hours from Start to Finish? We can have lunch in Newport, or somewhere in Providence, but that's open to discussion.
CT Cruise: Routes have yet to be determined, but I have some checkpoint destinations I thought of, including: Gillette's Castle, Devils Hopyard, the UConn dairy bar w/ photo ops on Horsebarn Hill Road (if you haven't been on this road, you'll see why it's a great location for pics), and maybe some highway driving to Hartford or Manchester for some lunch / an impromptu meet in the parking lot of (to be determined) restaurant? <--kind of like we did at Hooters on the Berlin Tpk, I think last summer? Also, not really an all-day thing, like the mountain run, which may be a nice change. Idk... I can always make these longer by adding checkpoints, or just taking the long way to the ones I already thought of
I feel like both of these cruises will be fairly good in terms of location for the CT and MA members. People coming from closer to NYC (e.g. Larry) may have a bit more of a drive to RI, but that's why I have a choice between the two. As you can see, they're not going to be particularly spirited driving trips, but on some of the scenic roads you will be able to open up a bit, and on the highway...well, just keep it safe!

This is why a few of us decided it would be a good idea to plan a real T350Gz event with a clear thread about what is going on. So there's no confusion.
Trodis is totally right, though. We need to do this very soon! So far it's 4:1, in favor of the Rhode Island cruise.
How long should I leave this thread running before we finalize a date? I'm thinking one of the next 2 Sundays we do this, so I'd like to start that thread, w/ poll, deciding on a date.

Just found the "official" thread for this Sunday. My bad for not seeing it. Looks like a lot of fun. I just heard some people taking about doing a run closer to home instead of so far. Kingston, NH is 2 hours from me, so it'll be quite a bit of driving for the CT people, just to get to the start of it.
I hope that "good luck" wasn't sarcastic.

Lets try this again...
1. Yes, there is a Fall Mnt Run this year and the date is for next weekend the 12th.
2. The people who plan everything have been busy lately. Omega has been away and the Mnt Run looked like a lost idea for a while. I spoke with Chick Flyn By you to please post up another thread with a title of "Official T350GZ" prefix, so those of you who would like to join can come. The purpose being there were some threads with the same title that were feelers and then the summer run fell through. We are late into the year and needed something up right away..hence the "cut and paste"
3. Its good to see you are taking some inititive and starting a team activity and I thank you.
4. I made a point to try and get this done early, so it can be a successful event. I found it a slap in the face when you refer to it being a copy and paste and that you are going to start a "real" thread.

When I said I was going to start a "real" thread, I meant one that was organized, and had a list of members in attendance, times to meet up, and caravan details, among other things. This was before I went to the North East section and saw the thread - clearly marked, I admit - about the official mountain run for our club this weekend. Link: https://my350z.com/forum/north-east/...ober-12th.html
The copy/paste comment was in regard to this thread: https://my350z.com/forum/north-east/...ntain-run.html
That one was the only one I had bookmarked on my computer, so it was the only one I was looking for updates in. I checked it yesterday and didn't see any formal details, so I was thinking it was just someone else's run that we all happened to get an invite to (kind of as an after thought), and wasn't really sparking any great interest to the entirety of our club.
You thought that what I meant by "real" was a failure on the President's and VP's to put together a "real" mountain run. I was merely referring to the outdated thread I was looking at that didn't have any details in it.
I have no problem admitting my mistake. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

[CT / RI Event Update] After speaking with a few members, it seems as if I have set my hopes too high in this being a cruise with a big turn out, since it is sort of short notice (if it's going to tentatively happen in the next couple weeks), and we should all aim to get a date set where a minimum of 6-ish of us can definitely go. Any more will be a definite bonus.
Another option is to open attendance to friends of ours and their cars. That's totally fine with me.
So far, it seems like we're leaning toward RI.
I'm changing this part 1, part 2 business and just having all discussion limited to this thread only. There's too much short notice, and I don't expect enough people to come (but I do have high hopes!) for it to make sense in having multiple threads.

I'd like to see this happen yes its kinda short notice but maybe a little closer to home. I would love to make it out this sunday as chick flyin by you has done a good job to get this together, but me being married and what not makes driving 2 hours out to this hard sometimes and I have to pick and choose events I love being arround the group and everyone is pretty damm cool so I hate to miss events like this ,but me and the wife are going to peru this xmas and she is being tight with my spending so again pick and choose events for right now. We also as a group seeing that this year is really been new to us as a whole lack a little in events but I have HIGH HOPES FOR NEXT SUMMER (please nobody take this as an insult as I think the group will get stronger)so to try and make this short lets just be aware that winter is almost here and get this done even if its a small event lets make it bigger next year as we all have time to plan aka events and runs for next year
Andrew, I hope you didnt think I was being a Jerk when you asked me to look at your car. I would be more than happy to check it out if you would like.
The rain was making me miserable (along with 3 hrs of sleep). The left front tire on the Z wasnt holding air. It lost almost 10psi over the time of the day. Forgot the lug key. All I could think was stranded in the rain 2 hrs from home. Its Time to call it a day
Always a good time... Great to see you and your wife along with the rest of the crew.

I didn't even get that impression at all!
So far, we have 7 people who have voted in the poll, not including myself, so that's 8. Not bad!
I'm assuming Sundays are best for everyone? I personally don't mind a Saturday, but I'll let you all decide. Could the seven people who voted for a location just let me know what week day is better for them? I'm considering October 18th or 19th for this event.
