Default long island pot hole fail

my sister recently hit a pot hole luckly she wasent to far from home less then a mile. but it destoryed.

with all this money that we spend on taxes why are the roads so shitty i have hit some pretty big ones i couldent avoid (hit a car or a pot hole). it just seems like eveytime they fill them in less then a month later the same pot hole is back and there are some really bad roads out there. they should just fix it right the first time.
also does anyone know if we can report this damage to the town and have them pay for the damage? thx in advance

You should be able to document the pot hole with pictures showing where it is in relation to normal driving lines and how bad it is, then submit that with pictures to the city to get reimbursed for repairs. Most cities will cover it if it is consider a city roadway. If not, whomever maintains that road, be it county or state, you should be able to file a claim somewhere.

Normally, it's not a fast turn around to get reimbursed and sometimes you're just better off to file an insurance claim if you have that option.

Either way, it sucks.

Sorry about your mishap, but I'm not really sure what you expect with the heavily populated area we live in coupled with it being the dead of winter. We've had a lot of rain and snow this winter and as a result a lot of plowing needing to be done, so unfortunately this ends up being the result.

A friend a mine had a similar occurrence a few years back and he was reimbursed for the amount he paid for a new rim by the county (Nassau in his case). Driving on tires with smaller sidewalls than most other road vehicles you have to do your best to watch out for obstacles in the road, but $hit happens.

this actually happened before all the snow around september they had plenty of time to repair is from the winter. the area i live in has really high taxes and it always seems like for as much as the people pay the town we are always last to get any road work if any done and forget about them plowing here. **** this town and the dirty politicians.

its getting worse... i just went out for a quick spin in the snow and the plows are just creating craters that will cause accidents b/c they're plowing dry pavement.

Ever since I moved from NJ to PA its been great. In NJ I had to watch every 10 feet of road in front of me so I didn't destroy the car. Now I can drive my Z that has expensive wheels and slammed on coilovers without a worry in the world.
