Lightbulb NJ Inspection: pass w/ long tube headers and MD exhaust

If you have long tubes headers mated to the MD shockwave exhaust, there is a catalytic converter that can be swapped out for the regular straight pipe right after the XYZ Y-pipe.

I'm wondering if this would pass visual inspection or if the cat needs to be hooked up to the O2 sensors, closer to the exhaust manifolds. If I pointed it out to them, I don't see why there would be any issue. Something to consider for those of you who want to run long tubes, etc. and pass without any trouble.

Yeah, and you still need to have cats on your car to pass...

From talking to other people all they do now is plug into your computer and check the on board diagnostics. You can roll in there with tints one headlight working doesn't matter.

Probly not. Like downstate NY they plug in and look for readyness monitors and codes. They may also look under the car for cats, but I'm not sure.

As long as your codes are geniuinely off and not "turned off" by uprev etc. then you should be fine.

If the CEL is turned off with Uprev it will pass as long as they don't look under.

CEL cant be just 'turned off'. You have to have passed all tests with no CEL. A code reader can tell you when the ECU is in the 'ready' state. I have passed with TP.

Car will not pass with O2 sensor and Catalyst not being ready. Hence the j tubes and brillo.
