Oregon Region Solo II@Packwood 8/27-28
Oregon Region SCCA is having a Solo II practice (Saturday) and event (Sunday) at the Hampton Lumber Mill in Packwood, WA on August 27th and 28th.
Come out and try out one of the best autocross sites in the Northwest! This is the site that held the SCCA Packwood National Tour a few weeks ago.
For more info, check out the Oregon Region Solo II Schedule website.

Linky no worky????

nevermind... just had to take out a couple http's and :'s and //'s.
I really want to get involved with this kind of stuff, but I have NO experience with it at all. What kinds of things do I need to know before I come to one of these? Seems like a dumb question, but I hate getting involved with this kind of thing with out knowing the details... I've never been to a track. I'm just too new. What is the best time/place to learn before I go out and make an *** of myself?

Sorry about the link, I'm not sure how that happened.
Solo II - you primarily need a car that is in decent mechanical condition and a helmet -- and there are usually "loaner" helmets at the events. The SCCA Solo II rules are available online at http://www.scca.org/_filelibrary/File/2005SoloRules.pdf so there's no reason to at least download and review the rules.
Basically, if you haven't made any modifications to your car, then you can run in stock classes. Even basic modifications move you to non-stock classes.
There really isn't a place to go learn other than to read about it (the SCCA organization website http://www.scca.org/Solo/Solo.asp has some info). Don't worry about making a fool of yourself, we were all there at one time or another, so don't worry about it.
If you have any questions when you get there, just look for the bright yellow Z!
